Thiollier is one of many NPCs featured in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, but he’s one of the few that has a questline spanning the entire story and there are big rewards for finishing it.
Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has loads of new enemies, bosses, and areas for players alongside multiple new questlines. Several NPC questlines span most of the DLC’s main story. Alongside Sir Ansbach’s, Thiollier’s questline will last players most of the DLC, but the rewards are worth it.
Most of Thiollier’s questline revolves around the player going back and forth to talk to various NPCs in the Land of Shadow. With much lore and a mandatory remembrance boss fight, players can gain an invaluable ally for some of the more challenging fights of the DLC by seeing this questline to the end.
Step-by-step guide for completing Thiollier questline in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
Players must traverse most of the Land of Shadows to complete Thiollier’s questline after first speaking with him at the Pillar Path Cross site of grace.
The Tarnished can interact with Thiollier in various areas throughout the Land of Shadow, leading to precious rewards and assistance.
Here’s the full step-by-step guide for finishing Thiollier’s questline in the Elden Ring DLC:
- Interact with Thiollier next to the Pillar Path Cross site of grace in the Gravesite Plain
- Talk to Moore twice at the Main Gate Cross outside Belurate to get the Black Syrup
- Give the Black Syrup to Thiollier back at the Pillar Path Cross
- Interact with Thiollier again and ask him about the syrup. When given the option, choose “I’m weary of life” to obtain Thiollier’s Concoction
- Progress through the main quest to where you enter the Shadow Keep to get the “somewhere a great rune has been broken” prompt
- This step is optional, but players can speak to Leda and choose the “Suggest Thiollier” dialogue to gain additional lore
- Interact with Thiollier back at the Pillar Path Cross
- Rest at any site of grace and talk to Thiollier again
- Go inside the fissure on the south side of the Cerulean Coast, where the Putrescent Knight is found
- Progress through the fissure and defeat the Putrescent Knight
- Interact with Thiollier next to the Garden of Deep Purple site of grace
- Rest at any site of grace and talk with him again
- Enter the Garden of Deep Purple room and interact with St. Trina.
- Select the Imbibe Nectar option until St. Trina starts repeating her dialogues
- Go to Thiollier and share St. Trina’s words with him
- Thiollier won’t believe the player the first time so interact with him again. The second time he’ll threaten the player
- Rest at the nearest site of grace where Thiollier will invade the player
- Go back to where St. Trina is and talk to Thiollier
- Interact with St. Trina and choose the Imbibe Nectar another time before sharing her words with Thiollier again
- Summon Thiollier for the fight against Needle Knight Leda
- Summon Thiollier for the fight against the final boss
Though Thiollier is an invader, his questline continues after this point and players receive a unique talisman as a reward. In addition to summoning him against Leda, players can summon Thiollier against the DLC’s final boss by completing his quest.
Players can begin Thiollier’s questline right after starting the expansion. In the beginning area of the Land of Shadow, go across the Ellac Greatbridge and make a right. The road will diverge midway, and players must choose the left side. Following the left path will lead to the Pillar Path Cross site of grace, where Thiollier will be waiting.
Interacting with Thiollier will cause him to introduce himself and share his proficiencies with poison. The player can buy items like the Deadly Poison Perfume Bottle from him if they want to. After talking to Thiollier, players must go toward the Main Gate Cross site of grace and interact with Moore to receive the Black Syrup and officially kick off Thiollier’s questline.
All Thiollier quest rewards in Elden Ring DLC
Finishing Thiollier’s questline rewards players with his new armor set, a weapon, and a talisman.
After surviving Thiollier’s invasion in the Garden of Deep Purple, Elden Ring players will receive St. Trina’s Smile. This talisman increases the player’s damage output when a sleep-status-affected person is nearby.
Players can find Thiollier’s body in the boss arena after defeating the final boss. Interacting with it will drop:
- St. Trina’s Smile
- Thiollier’s Hidden Needle
- Thiollier’s Mask
- Thiollier’s Garb
- Thiollier’s Trousers
- Thiollier’s Gloves
Thiollier’s Hidden Needle is a brand-new weapon in Shadow of the Erdtree, and it scales with strength, dexterity, and intelligence. It’s perfect for players who want to create sleep builds and pairs perfectly with St. Trina’s Smile. Since it’s a unique weapon, the only way to upgrade it is by spending Somber Smithing Stones.
Once the player defeats the final boss and collects items from Thiollier’s body, return to the Garden of Deep Purple to find St. Trina’s dead body. Interacting with it will provide players with St. Trina’s Blossom. The headgear is not part of any set, but wearing it will increase the person’s max FP by 6%.
