Epic Games Store to provide 17 free games during Holiday Sale

destiny 2 the final shape

A report from a reliable leaker known as billbil-kun claims that a new promotion will give away 17 more free games during the Epic Game Store’s Holiday Sale.

The sale started with the first drop from the lineup ready to be downloaded. Bungie’s Destiny 2 Legacy Collection is the first on the list. It comes with three substantial paid expansions for the free-to-play game: Beyond Light, Shadowkeep, and The Witch Queen. The expansion collection can be obtained now and will remain accessible for seven days. After that, another title will take its place.

Epic Games Store always has at least one paid game available for free as part of its store promotions. Since its launch in 2018, Epic Games Store has consistently released PC titles for free on the platform. Previously, Predecessor and Gigabash were free before being replaced by Destiny.

Epic Games Store Holiday Sale free games dates

Starting December 13, 2023, players will be served a number of free games they can redeem at the Epic Games Store through January 10, 2024.

Destiny 2: Legacy Collection is currently available for free on the store. The second free game is reportedly coming soon and will be available for redemption through December 21, 2023. This release pattern will repeat for each free game until early January when the Holiday Sale begins to wrap up on the Epic Games Store.

Players need to get the free Destiny 2 base game before redeeming the Destiny 2 Legacy Collection on the Epic Games Store. Otherwise, the store will show an error and won’t add the Destiny 2 expansions to the player’s games library.

What games will be free on Epic Games Store?

There is no word on exactly what games will become free on the Epic Games Store yet, but the answer will come soon as the storefront’s Holiday Sale event continues.

Proficient data miner and leaker billbil-kun still hasn’t disclosed exactly what games Epic Games Store aims to give to the players during the holiday promotion. Last year, there was a good mix of AAA and indie titles during the holiday sales on the Epic Games Store. Popular titles including Metro: Last Light Redux, Mortal Shell, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Death Stranding, and Dishonoured: Definitive Edition were among the big hitters.

The promotion also gave away Bloons TD 6, Costume Quest 2, Sable, and Fist: Forged in Shadow Torch. This year’s sale starts with a couple of meaty expansions to a free-to-play game.
While its storefront sale is getting started, Epic Games is already busy with a significant update to Fortnite, and clues suggest Call of Duty games might soon be coming to the storefront to add further intrigue.
