Miyamoto Musashi upped the stakes in Baki, even beyond those of Pickle. Baki peels back the layers of the often-romanticized character to remind viewers that, ultimately, he is remembered for being a prolific killer. That makes each of his fights a matter of life and death, something the cast learns first-hand.
The stakes have been raised when it comes to Musashi, but what can fans expect? And when will Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai Season 2 actually come out? Here’s what we know.
Will there be a Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai Season 2?
A second season to Baki-Dou was effectively confirmed with the ending of the first season.
The first season concluded on something of a cliffhanger, teasing viewers with a fight between Musashi and Pickle. This brings together two of the strongest characters in the Baki franchise, with both actively looking to kill the other.
There hasn’t been any sort of official announcement regarding a second season by TMS Entertainment or Netflix. The fact that the season ends on a cliffhanger likely means that TMS is planning to return to it. Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai was also a big hit for Netflix, so the platform is likely to bring it back for more.
When will Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai Season 2 come out?
There’s no word yet on when Baki-Dou’s second season may come out. There is a general cadence to the release of new Baki anime content.
Since 2018, TMS Entertainment has averaged roughly one chunk of content per year. That doesn’t mean that one release has come each year. Fans were left wanting in 2022, but were treated to two seasons of Baki Hanma in 2023. In 2024, the Baki Hanma vs Kengan Ashura movie was released. No animated Baki content came out in 2025, but the general cadence was kept generally intact with the arrival of Baki-Dou in early 2026.
All this adds up to Baki-Dou Season 2 likely coming out in 2027. Neither TMS Entertainment nor Netflix has announced a definite date yet, but fans likely don’t have to worry about a protracted layover.
What will happen next season?
The Baki-Dou anime closely follows the events of the manga, which means that fans have a strong idea of what will happen. This includes a long list of fights involving Musashi. Here are the opponents Musashi will face in the second season, assuming it runs through the end of the Baki-Dou manga series (Warning: spoilers ahead):

- Pickle
- Izou Motobe
- Kaoru Hanayama
- Baki Hanma
Alongside this, Musashi also has run-ins with Japanese Self-Defense Force members and police officers. The result is some of the bloodiest, goriest moments in the Baki franchise. That says a lot, considering fans have already witnessed some gastly moments between the death row inmates and Pickle.
The Musashi arc of the manga wraps with a tease of what’s to come in the next arc. Because of this, fans can likely look forward to hints of another resurrected warrior of old.
