Pokemon TCG Pocket: Mega Shine’s best pull cards so far

Mega Shine is bringing new shiny megas to Pokemon TCG Pocket.

The latest Pokemon TCG Pocket set, Mega Shine, is just around the corner with a new group of the best pull cards to hunt down in the game.

Shining Revelry introduced shiny cards to Pokemon TCG Pocket in March of 2025, and for collectors, the game hasn’t been the same since. First at a rarity of roughly 4% and competing with other cards, shiny cards now appear as a sixth bonus card for the set.

Mega Shine is taking the strong foundation laid and expanding it, so that even mega Pokemon can get a second design. Here are the best pull cards players can look forward to drawing from Mega Shine.

What are the best pull cards so far from Mega Shine?

The trailer for Mega Shine shows two new mega Pokemon, which should be among the best pull cards from the overall set.

The ghost/poison type Pokemon Gengar is a fan favorite, so Pokemon TCG Pocket players have been clamoring for a card that could enter the competitive meta. Its mega form has a dark typing, since the card game does not include poison or ghost types. With 210 HP, it deals 120 damage for 4 energy and prevents the opponent from using any trainer cards during their next turn.

Mega Charizard X ex is the other mega Pokemon to feature prominently in the Mega Shine trailer. As Mega Charizard Y ex came with Crimson Blaze in December 2025, the new card completes the duo. At full health of 220 HP, the card deals 100 damage for 3 energy. However, if Mega Charizard X ex’s HP is less than half, it deals 180.

Notably, both new mega Pokemon cards come in both regular ex and shiny versions. Due to their rarity and utility, the shiny versions may end up being the best or most sought-after pull cards to chase from the set. Shiny cards have typically been reserved for remakes of cards already featured in the game, so this certainly represents a change of pace.

Mega Shine brings shiny Pokemon to the forefront

As a pack centered around shiny Pokemon, some of the best pull cards from Mega Shine may be from the plethora of new shinies.

Fans got a sneak peak at four new shiny Pokemon: Pineco, Dragonair, Zorua, and Ponyta. Much like in the base set, shiny cards usually come with the full evolution line, meaning players can likely look forward to seeing blue Rapidash as well. With a roughly 5% chance in most packs of getting a shiny card, the odds of pulling such a card aren’t terrible.

The trailer also revealed some Pokemon making their debut in Pokemon TCG Pocket. These include Morpeko and Haxorus so far. Other notable cards include a full art Empoleon and the trainer Calem, which lets players draw a card for every mega Pokemon in play.

Mega Shine releases on March 25, 2026 at 6 pm EST. Only then will players be able to see if they’re lucky enough to pull one of the best cards from the new Mega Shine set.
