Everything you can expect from the Fortnite OG Season 6 update

Fortnite Jonesy dropping

The Fortnite OG Season 6 update has just dropped, and it features the return of some iconic elements from previous seasons.

Last week, publisher Epic Games’ biggest title Fortnite kicked off its Fortnite “OG” event through which seasons 5 to 10 of Chapter 1 are making a return. Epic has announced that it will continue to speed through the seasons until Chapter 5 comes out, with every week bringing a new season from the “OG” Chapter 1.

To keep the popularity of Fortnite going, Season 6 made a return on November 9. When compared to Season 5, the new season includes various changes regarding what items to expect, and one beloved area receives a major revamp.

What’s new in the Fortnite OG’s Season 6 update?

Fortnite Season 6 brings numerous changes to the game, including the un-vaulting and removal of items, as well as a significant change to the map.

While the map is still based on the Chapter 1 map, there have been multiple changes such as certain vehicles and other items being moved. The biggest difference is the erasure of Loot Lake in exchange for The Floating Cube Island that now resides in the middle of the map.

Multiple iconic weapons from the OG Chapter’s Season 6 have returned as well. These include the Double Barrel Shotgun, Shockwave Grenades, Clingers, Dynamite, Heavy Assault Rifles, and Six Shooters.

It doesn’t end there, however, as a number of classic tools have also made a return. The returning tools include the Bounce Pad, Grapple Glove, Chiller Trap, Port-a-Fortress, and Mounter Turrets. Old automobiles are making a comeback as well, giving players more ways to traverse the map. The returning vehicles are the Quadcrashers and the Driftboards.

Epic didn’t just add items to the game though, as items that were not present in the OG Fortnite Season 6 have unsurprisingly been vaulted again. The items that players can no longer use include Remote Explosives, Smoke Grenades, Port-a-Fort, and Impulse Grenades.

What’s next for the Fortnite OG event?

On November 16, Fortnite OG will receive a hotfix that will include items from Chapter 1’s Seasons 7 and 8 as well as another change to the map.

Alongside classic Seasons 7 and 8 items like the Flint-Knock Pistol, Minigun, Quad Launcher, and the Poison Dart Trap returning, the map will see another major change in the form of a snow biome. Players might want to get accustomed to this snow biome, as it is also expected to be present in Fortnite Chapter 5 map according to recent leaks.

While Fortnite OG is going to great lengths to give players a chance to again experience the game’s first season, there are still some noticeable differences comparing the modern game to the original. Examples include the new sprinting and vaulting mechanics and Zero Build, none of which were present in the original Chapter 1 release.
