Fans demand the Caitlyn-Vi extended cut, but what is it?

Caitlyn and Vi are together in the Arcane finale.

Despite Arcane being over, some fans are holding out hope for more content in the form of a Caitlyn and Vi extended cut scene. Spoilers ahead for Arcane Season 2.

One of the most long-awaited moments in Arcane came during the penultimate episode, when League champions Caitlyn and Vi have a sex scene. It features intimate moments that show the two have forgiven each other after an implied messy breakup during the first act. Many were surprised that Riot allowed the scene at all, given its parent company.

Now, there is a belief that the show also has cut content involving the characters. Here’s what the Caitlyn and Vi extended cut is and the lengths fans are going to to get access to it.

Is Arcane’s extended cut of Caitlyn and Vi real?

An extended cut of Caitlyn and Vi’s sex scene in Arcane Season 2 is real, according to one of the series’ creators.

Showrunner Christian Linke has given many fans hope that more romance could be coming. In a livestream Q&A with Necrit94, Linke revealed that the original jail sex scene involving Caitlyn and Vi was longer. He added that the team received a “slap on the wrist” for the Caitlyn and Vi extended cut and that it could have earned the show a mature rating.

Linke didn’t directly say whether an extended cut will actually come out. On the same stream, he joked that it could come in a future director’s cut. Of course, this is far from any commitment that fans can hold onto.

As it stands, the current scene shows Caitlyn and Vi making out topless with no full-frontal shots. There’s also the implication that Vi performs a specific sexual act on Caitlyn. Already, the romance scene doesn’t shy away from mature themes, albeit in a way that can still be awkwardly censored. It’s also unclear how thoroughly developed this scene was from an animation perspective.

Many fans still want to see the additional content.

Petition to see full CaitVi scene gets tens of thousands of signatures

After finding out that it existed, fans are collecting signatures to support the Caitlyn and Vi extended cut scene release.

Created on November 26, the Change.org petition for the Caitlyn and Vi extended cut has passed 50,000 signatures. The petition description posits that the studio has tucked away the footage and asks that Netflix and Riot Games provide the longer version. Neither Linke nor fellow Arcane co-creator Marc Marill have given comment on the demand.

Though the petition itself may not have an impact, it has gained social media traction that could pressure the companies. Until then, fans will have to make do with the CaitVi scene they have at home.
