With The Boys Season 4 premiere approaching, Homelander is finally set to arrive in Mortal Kombat 1 as the latest DLC fighter.
When Freddy Krueger and Kratos entered the Mortal Kombat universe, guest characters became a franchise staple. Mortal Kombat 1 continues that tradition, with the likes of Omni-Man, Peacemaker, and Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1’s first Kombat Pack.
Omni-Man and Peacemaker already made their roster debuts to positive reception. Despite initial worries of Injustice vibes, both superheroes had fun gameplay and fit in with the bloody MK universe. With The Boys Season 4’s imminent premiere, Netherrealm Studios gave fans a glimpse of what to expect from the evil Superman parody.
When is Homelander’s release date for Mortal Kombat 1?
Homelander will likely debut in Mortal Kombat 1 in June 2024.
Although the first look trailer doesn’t give an official release date, The Boys Season 4 will premiere on Amazon Prime on June 13, 2024. Notably, Omni-Man rolled out for Mortal Kombat 1 on November 2023, the same month Invincible Season 2 premiered on Amazon Prime.
Given the promotional synergy, fans can expect to play as Homelander by June. Interestingly, Anthony Starr does not reprise his role as Homelander for the video game. The actor confirmed on social media, and fans didn’t take to the news kindly. However, neither Starr nor NetherRealm Studios have revealed why a deal never materialized.
After all, JK Simmons and John Cena respectively reprised their roles as Omni-Man and Peacemaker. Speculations land on Starr and Warner Bros not settling on a deal for the performance, a theory which, given the latter’s struggling finances, may be true. Alternatively, it could be a scheduling mishap. Regardless, fans are disappointed that Starr doesn’t get to lend his sociopathic performance as Homelander to Mortal Kombat 1.
Ferra also makes her Mortal Kombat 1 debut
Ferra will also likely be playable in Mortal Kombat 1 on June 2024.
Ferra first arrived in the Mortal Kombat franchise in Mortal Kombat X, astride the massive Torr. This time, she does the fighting, albeit as an assist-only Kameo fighter.
The first look didn’t reveal much else, but that will likely come with the Homelander gameplay trailer. With Homelander and Ferra’s releases, Takeda Takahashi and Mavado will be the final characters for Kombat Pack 1. They’re set to arrive in Summer 2024.
