Xianyun and Gaming will be added as new playable characters in Genshin Impact update 4.4, and a leak has revealed the patch’s release date.
Genshin Impact keeps getting events, updates, and additions that keep fans on their toes. Not only did the long-awaited region of Fontaine release in 2023, but the game also held a massive third-anniversary event. The additions aren’t over yet as Hoyoverse officially revealed two brand-new characters that will be coming to the game.
Genshin Impact’s 4.4 update will add the playable characters Xianyun and Gaming. While there isn’t much info on either character, fans are expecting to learn more during the 4.4 livestream. The event might not have an official date yet, but the 4.4 update does, with a leak suggesting the update will bring several new skins with it.
Xianyun and Gaming are the next playable characters in Genshin Impact
The two new characters coming to the Genshin Impact roster in update 4.4 are Xianyun and Gaming. Both characters are from the China-based region of Liyue as the version focuses on the Lantern Rite festival, Genshin Impact’s version of the Lunar New Year.
Xianyun is the playable name of Cloud Retainer, an adeptus who has been a recurring character in Liyue-based storylines and quests. While she has been rumored to be coming to the game since the Fontaine update, she’ll finally be joining the Traveller in their journey in version 4.4.
Instead of the Cloud Retainer’s bird form that players might be familiar with, fans will get the chance to play as her in her human form. While not much is known about her choice of weapon or playstyle, it’s confirmed that Xianyun will be a 5-star Anemo character.
According to the information given in her announcement, Xianyun will be undercover in Liyue posing as an artisan, explaining her human disguise. A leak suggests that her 5-star signature weapon be called “Echo of the Crane’s Call” and will be shaped like a fan with feathers and cloud patterns.
Joining Xianyun in Genshin Impact is Gaming, a 4-star Pyro character. Unlike the Xianyun, Gaming is a completely new addition to the world of Teyvat and has never been mentioned in the game before.
Fortunately, Gaming’s official announcement on Genshin Impact’s X account gave some details on what fans can expect from the character. It seems as though he’s the head of the “Mighty Mythical Beasts,” and wants to popularize the “Wushou Dance” more in his region. When he isn’t dancing on the streets of Liyue, he secretly does gig work as a bodyguard.
Genshin Impact update 4.4 release date leaked
Genshin Impact’s Version 4.4 update is expected to go live on January 31, 2024, and will see the return of the Lantern Rite festival. According to leaks, Liyue will also see a map expansion of Chenyu Vale.
In addition to Xianyun and Gaming, prominent HoYoverse leaker FouL has discussed other content that will be coming to Genshin Impact. They say this includes new skins for Shenhe, Ganyu, and Xingqui. The new skins will be “Cold Flower, Secret Dew,” Mysterious Jade Fragrance, and Rain Transforms the Bamboo, respectively. The leaker shared an image of Ganyu and Shenhe in their new outfits on Reddit, but the post was deleted by moderators.
