While other games have enjoyed enormous spotlight, Granblue Fantasy: Relink is shaping up to be one of the breakout hits of 2024.
Developed by Japanese studio Cygames, Granblue Fantasy: Relink is part of the Granblue Fantasy franchise. The action RPG was in development for over eight years and was originally scheduled for release in 2018. It was delayed multiple times until its final release on February 1, 2024 on Steam, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
Players get to choose between a male or female main character and will be joined by the flying lizard Vyrn. Another character, Lyria, is at the center of the game’s mystery and it is the main character’s mission to protect her. As one would expect from a JRPG, players build up a party on their way to saving the world. Unlike other JRPGs, this one has exploded out of the gate and become one of the most-played games on Steam.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink player count
In its first week in the market, Granblue Fantasy: Relink is the second highest-selling game on Steam, even though Palworld continues to dominate the Steam charts.
Sales estimates aggregated by SteamDB have the game’s sales as high as 650,000 units just on Steam, good for a gross revenue of over $35 million. This only accounts for the Steam version of the game, and doesn’t include anything from the PlayStation releases.
The game surpassed the 100,000 concurrent players mark on Steam. It currently stands as number three in the most-played JRPG games rank, surpassed only by Monster Hunter: World and Monster Hunter Rise. In the same list, the newly released Persona 3 Reload is ranked ninth with an all-time peak of 45,000 recurrent players.
Why is Granblue Fantasy: Relink so popular?
