Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions release date, editions confirmed

Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter still has plenty of magic left for fans, and gamers especially crave more of the world. The good news is that the long-awaited Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions finally got a release date and had its different launch editions revealed.

Hogwarts Legacy didn’t need to cast any spells to become the top-selling game of 2023 at 22 million units sold. Fellow best-seller Legends of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sat a few million copies behind. That fact showcased Hogwarts Legacy’s drawing power.

The massive commercial success of the Wizarding World game meant Warner Bros saw dollar signs on the hype. While there’s no news on upcoming Hogwarts Legacy sequel plans, there are more Harry Potter games coming. In addition to planned DLC, Warner Bros also has the highly-anticipated Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions.

When is the release date of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions?

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will launch on September 3, 2024, with multiple editions available at launch.

Many fans noted the absence of Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy. While not exactly the most balanced or logical fictional sport, Quidditch was still something many fans wanted from Hogwarts Legacy. Its absence left many fans, especially those who played Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup in 2003, missing the iconic wizarding sport.

With its surprisingly fast-paced and fun gameplay, detailed stadiums, and attempts at balancing a very unbalanced pseudo sport, the Quidditch World Cup game spawned a dedicated fanbase. The trailer for Quidditch Champions showcased a sleek and modernized version of the sport, complete with a single-player campaign.

In addition, there are even more stadiums, iconic playable characters, and even custom characters. Most notably, the game will include an online competitive mode, something the 2003 version sorely lacked. Overall, it looks as fully-fledged as a Quidditch game as Harry Potter fans wanted. In addition to a standard edition, Quidditch Champions has other purchasable versions.

Does Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions have a Deluxe Edition?

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions has a Deluxe Edition with extra cosmetics and in-game currency.

The Standard Edition of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will be $29.99, while the Deluxe Edition costs $39.99. In addition, pre-orders of any edition of the game on Xbox, Steam, or Epic Games Store can obtain the Firebolt Supreme skin for their broomstick. PlayStation Plus members can get the skin for a limited time if they log in during September 2024. Some fans are concerned about Warner Bros’ monetization practices for the game upon release, but they will have to wait and see if it gets worse.

The comparatively low price tag is the continuation of a recent trend of lowering the price tag of games that have a live-service component but are also pay-to-start. This was recently seen with Helldivers 2, and could be a normal occurrence going forward.
