Leaks have reportedly uncovered the next VGU rework for League of Legends, and it’s one of Arcane’s lead characters; Viktor.
Arcane features some striking redesigns of League of Legends champions. For some of them, the show’s popularity has reached the point that their Arcane design is more recognizable than their actual in-game look. With Arcane Season 2 fast approaching, Riot has seemingly decided to overhaul the visuals of one of the series’ iconic characters.
Riot initially announced these plans in January 2024, teasing that one of the Arcane characters will receive a VGU sometime in 2025. There were many potential candidates, but recent reports claim to have found the final candidate for the VGU overhaul of 2025.
Is League of Legends’ Viktor getting a VGU in 2025?
Viktor will reportedly get a VGU treatment for 2025.
Leaks curator Big Bad Bear claims Viktor will get the VGU treatment for 2025. Most Viktor mains were pleased with the news, as Viktor has been long overdue for any sort of visual overhaul after years of neglect. However, they still hold some worries on Riot Games’ plans for the character.
Namely, fans do not want Riot messing with Viktor’s “evil laser beam” or associating him with the Void. The laser beam is one of Viktor’s most iconic moves, while the association with the Void would likely make his moveset a bit too purple. Big Bad Bear claims the design will have a bit more void influence, but that his core skills will remain unaffected.
Some fans pointed out the VGU for Skarner as an example of how too many changes might make Viktor too unrecognizable. After all, visual updates were the least of Riot’s concerns with Skarner. Although Big Bad Bear doesn’t make any concrete claims about gameplay overhauls, the long development cycle could mean it’s still in the cards.
They also teased a potential skin for Viktor, associated with Arcane Season 2. Given Arcane’s plot progression by Season 2, fans may get a skin of Viktor that’s more similar to what fans see in-game. By Arcane Season 1’s end, Viktor was in poor health and had yet to undergo any glorious evolution.
Overall, Viktor’s set to get a lot of love for 2025, but whether that works out for fans remains unknown.
