An unlisted trailer for Guilty Gears Strive’s Season Pass 4 revealed that a beloved character from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Lucy, will be joining the Guilty Gear roster and gave release date info.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a spin-off anime of CD Projekt Red‘s Cyberpunk 2077, has taken on a life of its own. Even as the game itself still reeled from its catastrophic launch in 2020, the anime and lead characters Lucy and David became wildly popular on their own terms. While most expected not to see these characters again, one of the two protagonists will appear in the Guilty Gear universe.
An unlisted trailer announcing Guilty Gear Strive’s Season Pass 4 leaked the contents of the entire season. Included in that is the full lineup of DLC fighters for the season and release windows for each of them.
Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is coming to Guilty Gear Strive
The fan-favorite character Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is coming to Guilty Gear Strive as the game’s first guest character.
The Season Pass 4 reveal trailer doesn’t show Lucy in action but it isn’t hard to guess how she will play based on the source material. While Lucy uses a Unity pistol in the anime, her go-to weapon is the Monowire. The Monowire is a long wire that Lucy uses as a whip or lasso, something that easily translates to Guilty Gear Strive.
It will be interesting to see which Cyberpunk: Edgerunners weaponry Arc System Works incorporates in the game. There’s also a lot of flexibility for what kind of character she might be, as she could conceivably be either a zoner like Happy Chaos or rushdown specialist.
When is Lucy coming to Guilty Gear Strive?
Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will come to Guilty Gear Strive sometime in 2025.
While the exact release date is unknown, fans can expect to see Lucy from Edgrunners join the Guilty Gear roster as its first guest character likely in mid to late 2025. Guilty Gear Strive Season Pass 4 will come out on July 22, 2024.
The complete Season Pass roster includes Lucy and a new character in Unika, as well as returning Guilty Gear favorites Dizzy and Venom. The newly crowned Queen Dizzy is set to be playable sometime in October 2024, while Venom will join the fray in early 2025. The other two characters only have a 2025 release date.
