2XKO is Riot Games’ highly anticipated tag fighting game and one of the biggest questions is which champions are going to appear on its roster of fighters. The developers have confirmed the full base roster of 2XKO, and some information exists about who will come out later.
During a 2XKO panel at Evo 2024, fans learned a bit more about the game’s gameplay and starting roster. A demo build was also available to play on the floor, allowing media and competitors to test out the game and a number of playable characters. Though the game’s development has been quiet to the point where some thought it was canceled, it has been a steady presence at major fighting game tournaments.
While it’s been a long road, the game’s release is approaching. With Riot running 2XKO playtests and the game evolving in front of players’ eyes, fans are getting a good feel for what’s coming.
All confirmed champions on 2XKO base roster
A small number of champions have been confirmed for the 2XKO base roster, with the list including fan favorites such as Jinx, Yasuo, and Ahri.
Riot Games doesn’t seem to be looking to include a significant number of champions in the game. Though 2XKO has been confirmed for years, only a handful of fighters have been confirmed. Each event the game appears at only has a handful of characters available to play. There’s no fixed cadence to new fighter reveals, with the announcements coming at random with large spaces between them.
Here are the champions that have been confirmed as part of 2XKO’s base roster:
- Ahri
- Braum
- Darius
- Jinx
- Ekko
- Illaoi
- Yasuo
Not all characters on the 2XKO roster are consistently available at demo events, though.
Popular League of Legends champion Jinx has been confirmed as a playable character since the game was first revealed as Project L. She’s mostly been out of the current build of the game went on tour. It’s possible that she’s undergone a redesign, but she is confirmed to be a part of the game.
The last League of Legends champion confirmed for the fighting game is Braum. Developers revealed his abilities, highlighting his icy shield and protective moveset, as well as his focus on keeping his teammate safe and dishing out devastating multi-blows.
Which champions will be added to 2XKO as DLC?
Vi, Akali, and Evelynn rank among the most likely champions to come to League of Legends.
There’s no defined rhyme or reason to which champions are getting added to the 2XKO roster. Riot seems to be looking for characters that are popular, have ties to other League of Legends media, and have a design that clearly indicates what they do. Vi, Akali, and Evelynn fit that bill better than anyone.
Akali and Evelynn are clear favorites among fans and Riot developers, given how regularly they get new skins. They’re also recognizable outside League of Legends’ immediate fandom as members of virtual band K/DA. Akali’s ninja-style kit translates to 2XKO in an obvious way, while Evelynn could be a zoner in the same vein as Testament from Guilty Gear Strive.
Vi checks every box to the point where she’s not among 2XKO champions already. Her massive mechanical fists instantly tell players what she does. She’s also one of the main characters of Arcane, making her one of the most widely known characters associated with League of Legends. There’s no confirmation of who will be added to the game after the initial launch, but Vi will almost certainly come out at some point.
Katarina not on 2XKO starting roster
It’s unknown if Katarina will be a playable champion in 2XKO at launch, but she’ll reportedly be added to the game.
At one point, it was confirmed that Katarina was going to be in the fighting game. She was featured in early marketing materials for Project L, but fans started to wonder about Katarina’s inclusion as time went on.
At one point, Smash Bros veteran and top Guilty Gear Strive player William “Leffen” Hjelte stated that she was being completely reworked and her arrival could be delayed.
The starting roster was confirmed during the 2XKO panel at Evo 2024, and didn’t show Katarina. This doesn’t mean she will never be in the game, she will likely be DLC or added later once she is ready. For now, players shouldn’t expect to play as her when the game initially releases.
