Honkai Star Rail: Every source of free Stellar Jade for F2P players

kurumi honkai star rail

Much like every gacha, F2P players need to farm for their rolls in Honkai: Star Rail, specifically with free Stellar Jade.

Hoyoverse games dominated the gacha action-adventure space, and games like Honkai: Star Rail showcase why. As the spiritual successor to Honkai: Impact 3rd, Honkai: Star Rail refines what people loved about the sci-fi epic and takes it to the vast reaches of space. But even in the cosmos, the gacha call is inescapable.

Stellar Jade is the premium currency of the space epic, used to purchase Star Rail Passes. Each pass costs 160 Stellar Jade, so players are incentivized to save their Stellar Jade for the right banners. Those with the means can just buy Stellar Jade directly, but F2P players do have options for free Stellar Jade.

List of free Stellar Jade sources in Honkai: Star Rail

Players can farm or obtain Stellar Jade from the following resources and in-game activities.

Like Polychromes and Primogems in sister HoYoverse titles, Stellar Jade is available through many different means but in limited quantities. The good news is that it’s a bit easier to come by than what fans might be used to in Genshin Impact. Here are the primary methods for getting it.

Log-In Rewards

The easiest way to farm Stellar Jade is by logging into Honkai: Star Rail once a day. Check the in-game mail or notifications to claim any potential rewards, especially during promo seasons like HoyoFest.

The amount of Stellar Jade people can claim from these log-in rewards varies greatly depending on what’s going on. “Off-season” log-ins will likely net just a little Stellar Jade, while new character drops or events will reward more.

In-game challenges

Honkai: Star Rail allows players to complete in-game tasks and missions to earn free Stellar Jade. Daily Training will net the player 60 Stellar Jades. Two game modes grant rewards for completion. Simulated Universe, accessible in Herta’s Office, is a rogue-like game mode wherein the player must beat nine worlds of increasing difficulty.

Forgotten Hall, playable on the Astral Express, is a gauntlet mode that limits the players to certain playstyles and characters. Finally, players can complete slightly smaller challenges like Operation Briefings, Character Trials, and Trailblazer milestones to gain even more free Stellar Jade.

Map Exploration

Exploring the map provides plenty of first-time rewards, ranging from bossfights to simple puzzles. Players should scour each region and regularly check their map for any potential sources of treasure.

Treasure chests do not respawn. Once claimed, it cannot be found again. Thankfully, there are hundreds of treasure chests in the galaxy, so F2P players likely won’t run out anytime soon, especially with new ones added every patch.

Also, each planet has a limited region shop that grants free Stellar Jade after the player spends enough credits there. Whenever the player needs to purchase things, it’s best to focus on one shop to level it up fast.

Special Events

Whether it’s a new character or a major story arc, special events are a guaranteed source for freebies. Holidays and anniversaries are a good time to pay close attention to Honkai Star Rail’s social media, as these will often offer details.

For example, HoyoFest is celebrated every year and grants players of every Hoyoverse game rewards specific to each game. Keeping a close eye on these events or setting up notifications is a great way to farm large amounts of free Stellar Jade fast.

External App Promos

In addition to in-game events, there are dozens of codes out there from content creators and miHoyo promotional campaigns. Logging into the HoyoLab app daily nets the player 80 Stellar Jade. Twitch streamers with [Drop] in their stream titles may also provide codes for a set amount of time.

Sometimes, Honkai: Star Rail may even collaborate with Facebook or TikTok. Livestreams for Special Programs also tend to give away rewards, so watching those is lucrative. If a player has these apps anyway, it’s an easy way to squeeze more Stellar Jade out of the game.
