Nintendo just announced Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete, but is it any different from the original mobile game?
After the game’s debut in October 2017, fans generally praised the social campsite simulator. It even spawned its niche group within the AC community. The online aspects were generally praised, but the microtransactions were decidedly not.
As the game celebrated its 7th anniversary, it also neared the end of its support on November 28, 2024. Fortunately, players can transfer their save data to the upcoming offline version of the beloved camping spin-off.
Is Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp shutting down?
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will shut down on November 28, 2024.
Nintendo announced its plans to shut down the game in August 2024 and reaffirmed them. The good news is that longtime players won’t be left empty-handed. After the shutdown, the game will be replaced with a new “complete” game that offers offline play, for a price.
What is Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete?
It is an updated and paid offline-only version of the original, with new features and content.
Generally, the game remains the same as its original iteration. However, content such as Leaf Tickets, Pocket Camp Club, and the online marketplace.
Leaf Tokens have replaced Leaf Tokens, though they function the exact same. Given the complete lack of microtransactions, Players must earn Leaf Tokens through in-game activities. Meanwhile, Pocket Camp Club content has been seamlessly integrated into the base game, allowing everyone access. The new Complete Item Catalog system can unlock past event rewards with in-game currency.
Unfortunately, content from collaborations such as Sanrio won’t be available, unless the player already has them from previous save data. Finally, online features have been replaced with Camper Cards. These are unique cards that players can trade with each other to add to their collection and are shareable via QR code. Once a Camper Card is in a player’s collection, they can see those other players as NPCs at a specific location.
