Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is having some teething pain as both the PC and Xbox versions are suffering from performance issues, but there are some fixes available to players.
The latest Soulslike game to hit the market, Flintlock, is not having a great time despite being a solid experience. Numerous performance issues plague the game, making it unenjoyable for many. While the Steam version of the game on PC runs well enough, fans are reporting numerous issues with the Game Pass release.
The Xbox versions of the game are also not faring well, with plenty of frame drops and crashes to the Xbox dashboard. Here’s how to fix some of the Flintlock: Siege of Dawn performance issues.
How to fix Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn performance issues, field of view on PC
Flintlock currently has stuttering, frame drops, and field-of-view problems on the game’s PC version. Some of these issues can be fixed, though.
Users suggest turning off Nvidia Reflex to tone down the stutters. This solution makes Flintlock the second game in recent months to be adversely impacted by Nvidia Reflex, the first being Horizon Forbidden West. Lowering the shadow settings may be able to stabilize the game further.
Separate from the performance issues, users are saying the field of view is too cramped in the game, making the action suffocating. The main protagonist is also close to the camera, which makes the issue worse. There is also no ultrawide support in the game.
Players can fix this issue by altering some of the .ini files. Players can fix Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn’s field of view manually by editing the file located here:
- C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Saltpeter\Saved\Config\WinGDK\GameUserSettings.ini
Open the file with Notepad, locate “FieldOfView =,” and increase the value. The ideal number will vary based on the player’s monitor and PC specs. Remember to save the file before closing.
Can you fix Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn on Xbox?
There are no solutions to Flintlock’s issues on Xbox consoles. Until A44 Games releases a patch, players will be stuck with the game’s current level of performance.
Users on Xbox Series X/S consoles have reported issues with the game’s HDR and brightness. Some report that the game is too dark to see the in-game environment properly, while others complain about the washed-out menus and lights.
The game also performs poorly on both consoles. There are dips in the frame rate during gameplay. As a Soulslike game, Flintlock needs a stable frame rate for proper player reaction timing. The developers haven’t addressed the performance issues but likely will before long.
