The first part of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, the Teal Mask, is now live and players have the chance to get themselves a free, guaranteed shiny Munchlax.
One of the most prominently featured returning Pokemon of the Scarlet and Violet DLC is Snorlax. The big, sleepy Pokemon has been a fan favorite since Pokemon Red and Blue and remains both popular and powerful even today. Game Freak knows this and gave the Pokemon a special place in the Teal Mask.

How to get shiny Munchlax with Crafty Mark in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask DLC
Players can get a shiny Munchlax with the Crafty Mark by clearing the hardest difficulty in the Ogre Oustin’ mini-game.
The Ogre Oustin’ mini-game tasks players with riding on Koraidon or Miraidon and collecting berries found in balloons. They then need to bring these berries to a table in the play area. Ogre Oustin’ becomes available after playing up to a certain point in The Teal Mask’s story. Players are forced into a trial run of the game, and then have the option of playing it on their own. They need to clear both the easy and normal difficulties to unlock hard mode.
The rewards for this mini-game are primarily the new mochi items that alter a Pokemon’s stats. While that’s not going to be particularly interesting for the majority of players, it also offers up a shiny Munchlax with the Crafty Mark. If players clear the hardest difficulty, they receive the Munchlax as a reward.
Clearing the hardest difficulty is brutal and things aren’t helped by the game’s poor performance. Players are best served tackling this with a handful of friends. The good news is that players can receive the shiny “Munchlax the Opportunist” if they can make their way through all 10 stages of hard mode.
Munchlax can be found and caught in the wilds of Kitakami as well. Players can make a perfect shiny hunting sandwich and get more than just the one from the event.
How to evolve Munchlax into Snorlax in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask
Munchlax can evolve into Snorlax by leveling up after hitting a high level of friendship with the trainer.
The method for evolving Munchlax in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet isn’t any different from what fans are used to from past games. Friendship points are accrued in a number of different ways including leveling up, traveling, winning battles, and giving them IV-reducing berries like the Tamato or Kelpsy Berry. The Pokemon can also lose friendship points in a few different ways, most notably being knocked out during battle.
The shiny Munchlax comes at level one so players won’t have much trouble raising it up. Anyone that needs a shortcut can get themselves an abundance of friendship-raising berries from the auction house in Porto Marinada, though this may require some resetting to get the item to appear.
