A Ubisoft content creator claims to have the release date for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, and spilled it on social media.
Ubisoft hasn’t provided much information about the next Assassin’s Creed game, except that it’s called Codename Red and will see players head to feudal Japan. Revealed by Ubisoft in 2022, the game has been the subject of various rumors and leaks. This comes from a combination of fan excitement regarding Assassin’s Creed finally releasing a game based on ninjas, as well as Ubisoft just regularly being a source of leaks.
The latest leak comes from BunnyTheVillain, a Ubisoft-partnered streamer and content creator. In addition to giving an estimated release date for Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, they also gave information on when the world premiere trailer and gameplay showcase might drop.
Assassin’s Creed Codename Red release date
The leaker claims that Assassin’s Creed Codename Red’s release date will be November 2024. While the source isn’t proven out as a leaker, all signs point to this being accurate.
A release date for Assassin’s Creed Codename Red aligns with a social media leak from a Ubisoft brand manager who put out a call in Japanese for partners related to an Assassin’s Creed game that will be released in 2024 with multimedia tie-ins that include a manga. Recent Assassin’s Creed titles have been released either in October or November, so Codename Red dropping in November makes sense.
The new information from the content creator is related to the announcement and how this will be rolled out. Thus far, nothing has been shown of the game or mentioned outside the teaser trailer from 2022.
When will Assassin’s Creed Codename Red be announced?
Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will allegedly be premiered with a trailer in May 2024.
The content creator states that this will come in the spring and will be followed by a gameplay trailer during a Ubisoft Forward stream, which will take place two months later in July 2024. Ubisoft Forward is a live stream where the company shares information regarding its upcoming projects. Neither Ubisoft nor any subsidiaries or partners have confirmed any information regarding the Assassin’s Creed Codename Red release date or that a Ubisoft Direct will take place in July 2024.
Whenever it comes, the gameplay trailer will likely answer several questions fans have about the upcoming title. Reports have circulated that the game will have two playable protagonists. This hasn’t been confirmed by Ubisoft and it’s unclear if these will be two separate characters with different stories or if there will be character switching similar to other open-world games such as Grand Theft Auto 5 and Spider-Man 2. Finally, the game’s official name will likely be revealed, as it’s highly unlikely to be released with “Codename Red” as its actual title.
With Assassin’s Creed also reportedly set to remake a classic title, Ubisoft seems to be making a hard push to reignite interest in its long-running series.
