After the leaks from Arcane Season 2, many fans are speculating that LeBlanc could be the next League of Legends champion to appear.
The show Arcane focuses on the Piltover and Zaun regions of Runeterra, with numerous fan-favorite champions getting new or expanded backstories. Vi, Jinx, Caitlyn, and Jayce are the leads but they’re far from alone with Ekko, Singed, and others appearing. Animators are teasing the introduction of another champion by discussing dark powers known to belong to a certain secretive cabal.
Here’s what fans need to know about LeBlanc and the Black Rose in Arcane Season 2. Warning: Spoilers ahead.
The Black Rose will appear in Arcane Season 2
In the League of Legends universe, the Black Rose is an underground Noxian organization dedicated to wielding dark and powerful magic.
Noxus hasn’t featured heavily in Arcane except for being the homeland of Mel Medarda and her mother, Ambessa Medarda. However, Season 2 seems to be leaning in on the brutal imperialism that Ambessa’s presence brings to the table. Part of that is the introduction of the Black Rose.
In the third episode, Noxian merchant Amara warns Ambessa that her plan will fail. In response, Ambessa seemingly takes control of a dark energy and kills Amara. This energy fractals in a black rose pattern and seems to consume or corrupt anything in its path. When fans next see the energy, it’s kidnapping Mel and manipulating her in the guise of her brother.
Did Ambessa orchestrate Mel’s kidnapping through the power of the Black Rose? Only time will tell for sure, but Arcane is certainly implying yes.
Possible Black Rose champions for Arcane include LeBlanc
The Black Rose’s inclusion in Arcane Season 2 hints that LeBlanc could be entering the picture alongside other champions.
In the lore, LeBlanc was the founding leader of the Black Rose who took control of an ancient, evil power. The universe, however, remembers her entirely as the hero responsible for defeating Mordekaiser. Her sorcery and skill at manipulation were intrinsic to the formation of the Black Rose. Other members include the barbarian god Vladimir, Cassiopeia, and Elise.
No exact names, including the Black Rose, were given in the five episodes of Season 2 that were leaked. But given her prominence in the organization, it’s likely that Leblanc will join Arcane. The only way to know for sure is to watch Season 2 on November 2.
