Is Linkin Park doing the 2024 Worlds theme? Here’s why it’s likely

League of Legends fans have been abuzz, as recent clues on social media point toward legendary rock band Linkin Park singing 2024’s Worlds anthem.

The clues that point towards a Linkin Park Worlds song have been trickling in for a while, and it’s all coming together as Worlds approaches. Linkin Park is fresh off the reveal of a new band lineup, including new vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain. This gears the group up for a return to action after a lengthy hiatus following the death of singer Chester Bennington in 2017.

As details about the band’s new album emerge, signs point towards a 2024 Worlds song by Linkin Park. This has been playing out in front of fans’ eyes with official League of Legends social media channels cozying up to the group. It would also be welcome news after Riot scrapped the last international event’s anthem.

League of Legends hints at Linkin Park collab for Worlds 2024

Riot Games and Linkin Park have a previous relationship, which will seemingly grow closer with the band singing the anthem for the 2024 League of Legends World Championship.

Everything began with Linkin Park’s debut show, reforming after the untimely passing of vocalist Chester Bennington in 2017. The band’s Twitter published a clip of one of their new songs, The Emptiness Machine, and an unlikely Twitter account responded.

The LoL Esports Twitter, the global esports account, responded to the band’s song with a crown emoji. This caught many fans’ attention, after all, why would the esports side of League of Legends specifically be responding to this post? While this instantly led to speculation that Linkin Park would be doing the anthem for Worlds 2024, the hints didn’t stop there.

As this strange social media crossover occurred, fans got a look at the track list for Linkin Park’s upcoming album, From Zero. Track number four, unreleased, is titled Heavy is the Crown. As Riot fleshed out their branding and promotion for Worlds 2024, fans got more hints that this crown coincidence might be more than just happenstance. The champion chosen for the Worlds 2024 skin is Viego, the Ruined King, whose ghostly crown is a key facet of his character design.

Given that each Worlds cinematic tends to tie in both the current and previous years’ storylines, and the Hall of Legends celebration for the defending champion, “Unkillable Demon King” Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, the focus on the crown continued. As Ashley Kang of KORIZON esports noticed, the roadmap that included the September 24 Worlds Anthem debut came with a crown icon. As that debut date approaches, the king and crown motif seems too strong to discount.
