Nobody Wants to Die was pushed by Xbox, but is this first-person detective adventure going to come to Game Pass?
Murder mysteries are in vogue again after the success of Alan Wake 2 in 2023 and even the likes of Nintendo are getting in on it. Nobody Wants to Die is a neo-noir take on the genre with a linear narrative, tasking the player with hunting down a serial killer who targets the city’s elite. The twist is that in Nobody Wants to Die, the elite and rich become immortal by transferring their consciousness into the bodies of poor and working-class citizens.
In theory, this is the style of game that Xbox wants attached to its brand and the kind of experience that is well-suited to Game Pass. So is it coming out on the service?
Is Nobody Wants to Die on Game Pass?
Nobody Wants to Die isn’t available on Xbox Game Pass and there’s no sign that it will be added.
No official announcements have been made by the studio so far regarding this dystopian thriller jumping to Xbox Game Pass. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the single-player adventure won’t be available in the future, as Microsoft has gotten popular indie titles on its service in the past. There’s no sign of this happening right now, though.
For what it’s worth, a sub-$25 price tag on a creative passion project helmed by an indie studio seems like a good deal for fans of the genre. Nobody Wants to Die is on the shorter side, taking an estimated six hours to beat, which would make it an ideal option for Xbox Game Pass.
The game features multiple endings, with each one being based on the choices taken within each chapter of the game’s story. Nobody Wants to Die received generally solid reviews, fulfilling Critical Hit Games’ intent to offer a “thought-provoking narrative.”
The neo-noir detective adventure also features a soundtrack composed by Mikolai Stroinski, known for composing Witcher 3, Diablo Immortal, League of Legends, and more. Fans can purchase the game’s soundtrack through a premium priced Soundtrack bundle available separately. The game’s standard price on Steam is $22.49.
Nobody Wants to Die launched on July 17 and is available to play on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S.
