LoL fans are fuming over the new Arcane Jinx skin, here’s why

Riot Games has always released skins of champions during special events, but a Jinx skin that’s supposed to commemorate the success of Arcane didn’t exactly land well with fans.

The continuation of the story between Vi and Jinx reached its conclusion upon the release of Arcane’s second season. Riot Games released a skin for Jinx in League of Legends tied to the series to commemorate this. However, it seems like the game’s player base is disappointed with this particular skin. Fans have been calling the skin a cash grab and too expensive for their liking. They have also been dropping references to a skin that is much better for less than half the price.

So, what’s gotten the fans up in arms over the Arcane Fractured Jinx skin?

Why fans are so upset with Jinx’s new Arcane skin

The new Jinx Arcane skin is lackluster with a lot of missed opportunities paired with an unaffordable price.

The new Jinx skin doesn’t spark joy in the community. It feels like a skin that was botched from the inside. Starting with just the price of $250, it’s not hard to see why fans are very upset with it.

First off, while the skin changes form, they all look pretty similar. Her weapons don’t change, her recall animations don’t change, and her abilities remain the same with only a few tweaks to visual effects.

Compare that to Elementalist Lux, which is an ultimate skin that costs less than half the price of the skin in question. Elementalist Lux has 10 transformations and the player can trigger two of them each game. Meanwhile, the Arcane Fractured Jinx skin has three transformations that look almost the exact same.

Elementalist Lux

At least with Lux’s transformations, it’s very apparent and players can really see what changed. For example, the change between the dark element and fire is drastic enough to be visible to players. Not only that, but her abilities, also produce a different hue. Fans on social media immediately drew parallels between the two skins, and not to Riot’s benefit.

League of Legends has been on a spree in regards to releasing skins that are very expensive. One recent expensive skin that was released was Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok’s Ahri skin. The price starts at around $45 but can balloon up to almost $800, making the skin potentially the most expensive one in the game. If Riot continues to release such eye-popping price tags, fan reaction may grow even more sour.
