Marvel Rivals Season 0 is launching soon with an affordable battle pass.
Hype is building as the release date for the upcoming PvP hero-shooter Marvel Rivals approaches. Fans will recognize many of the playable characters from their favorite superhero movies. The current roster features classics like Spider-Man and Iron Man, alongside deeper pulls like Jeff the Shark and Cloak & Dagger.
The main story follows Doctor Doom and his 2099 counterpart, who cause an event known as the Timestream Entanglement. Doom’s cosmic schemes are why these heroes and villains fight each other. While the exciting trailer convinced many Marvel fans to download the game, the new monetization blog may have sealed the deal. The Marvel Rivals battle pass will take a no-FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) route, setting a player-friendly standard for its progression systems.
How does Marvel Rivals Season 0 battle pass work?
Marvel Rivals Season 0 battle pass has two routes: Luxury and Free. Luxury can be purchased for 490 Lattices or $5.
For $5, the battle pass will include items valued at 8,000 Units. To put this into perspective, a standard epic-quality bundle in Marvel Rivals costs 1,600 Units. Players on the battle pass will get far more rewards than they would from standalone purchases. The discounted pricing is exclusive to Season 0. The season will also reportedly be shorter than future content updates.
NetEase hasn’t revealed all the cosmetics on the battle pass just yet. The publisher assured players the Luxury battle pass would feature five premium cosmetics alongside other goodies. Here are some of the leaked items included in the Marvel Rivals Season 0 battle pass:
- Imperial protocol Black Panter
- Punisher skin
- Galactic Wings costume for Mantis
Those on the free version are guaranteed one Epic-quality costume, along with some other minor rewards.
Fans praised the decision to make Marvel Rivals Luxury Battle Pass never expire. That means players can grind out their progress at their own pace. They will also never be locked out of the pass’s rewards, regardless of how much time passes. Games such as Fortnite and Overwatch infamously have limited releases for certain skins. Critics of the practice claim it exploits people’s FOMO.
Marvel Rivals sidesteps the problem entirely, earning it some cautious praise. Fans hope NetEase sticks to the model forever. Marvel Rivals Season 0 becomes available on December 6, 2024.
