NetEase is making the holidays extra exciting for Marvel Rivals players with five new winter-themed skins to collect during the Winter Celebration event.
Amid a flood of copycat hero shooters, Marvel Rivals stands out by spotlighting characters from the iconic comic book brand. The popularity is evident in the surging player count, which is maintaining a steady average player count. While some gripe about the lack of a role queue, the game’s overall reception has been strongly positive. This winter, NetEase is paying back the players by spreading the cheer with a mix of free and paid content to keep fans hooked.
In a short trailer, the developer has confirmed a winter-themed event for Marvel Rivals that kicks off before Christmas. During this time, players will be able to purchase some exciting seasonal skins that will become rare commodities down the line.
Marvel Rivals Winter Celebration skins confirmed
Players can get skins for Jeff the Landshark, Venom, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, and Magik during the Marvel Rivals’ first-ever seasonal event. Jeff the Landshark’s skin can be unlocked, while the other four must be purchased.
All four skins are themed around Christmas or winter. Venom steals the spotlight with his icy makeover, complete with icicles jutting from his body. The skin is also a fan-favorite for a fresh color choice for Venom’s dark persona. Rocket Raccoon keeps it simple in bright winter wear, while Groot goes all-out festive, decking his roots in full Christmas bling. Magik looks ready to hit the slopes with a snowboarder-inspired look.
The price point for these skins is unknown, but it’s possible that some may cost more than others. In the trailer, Venom’s skin was shown to have an elaborate animation, which may add a few bucks to his skin price.
How to unlock Jeff the Landshark’s winter skin in Marvel Rivals
Fans can unlock Jeff the Landshark’s Winter Celebration skin for free by completing few challenges during the event.
The Winter Celebration kicks off on December 20, bringing Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival and the Gallery Card customization event, “Gallery Card: 2024 Winter Celebration.”
Running until January 9, the event features challenges and tasks that reward players with free items and cosmetics. Among the highlights is Jeff the Landshark‘s winter skin, the Cuddly Fuzzlefin costume, which comes bundled with a nameplate, spray, and other rewards.
Besides this, players can partake in a 4v4 game mode built around Marvel Rivals‘ most popular hero, Jeff. In this snowy twist, all of Jeff’s abilities are reworked to fire snow instead of water. While NetEase hasn’t confirmed if the mode is time-limited, its title hints it might disappear after January 9.
