Wuthering Waves Yinlin build – Best echoes, weapons & teams

Yinlin is a future-proof sub-DPS unit who can bring a ton of value to any Wuthering Waves team, especially with the right build.

Though Yinlin was among the first limited characters in Wuthering Waves, she still maintains a strong presence in the meta and will likely keep that status for quite a while. Yinlin is a flexible 5-star electro hybrid unit that offers explosive off-field damage and buffs. She can function as a secondary sub-DPS in a hypercarry team, or become a member of a dual DPS team in a quickswap setup.

Her longevity in the meta makes investing in her kit a must. After gathering her ascension materials and leveling her up, farming for the best echoes, weapons, and assembling the best team come next.

How to use Yinlin in Wuthering Waves

As an Electro sub-DPS, Yinlin delivers electrifying AOE hits, and several self and teamwide buffs that can fire up the team’s damage output. Most importantly, she does not need to stay on the field to inflict damage.

Yinlin’s Punishment Mark is the heart of Yinlin’s playstyle, which is her source of off-field coordinated attacks. She can put this mark on multiple enemies by first applying Sinner’s Mark, through her basic attack, intro skill and resonance liberation. When the forte gauge is fully charged, her next heavy attack on these targets changes Sinner’s Mark into Punishment Mark.

Once an enemy with Punishment Mark is hit by any attack, whether it’s from Yinlin or another teammate, all marked enemies will take electro damage, counted as a coordinated attack. This continues for 18 seconds, even if players switch characters. From here, Yinlin has the option to let the main DPS control the entire field time or execute a quickswap combo with them.

When Yinlin is swapped out, she offers more than just her coordinated attacks. Her outro skill is what makes her an excellent sub-DPS for electro main DPS like Xiangli Yao and Calcharo, adding both electro damage and a resonance liberation buff.

The best echoes for Yinlin

Yinlin has two best options when it comes to Echoes; Void Thunder and Moonlit Clouds. Both provide her with more offensive potency, but one offers a bit more support functionality that will help her pump up allies.

5-piece Void Thunder

Void Thunder focuses more on offense, providing a straightforward 25% increase in electro damage. This boost lasts for 15 seconds and can be triggered with either a heavy attack or resonance skill. As for the main echo, the choice between Thundering Mephis and Tempest Mephis ultimately comes down to personal preference. Both offer electro damage boosts, though Tempest Mephis may be the better choice for quicker rotations.

When equipped, her outro skill will provide the next resonator with a whopping 22.5% attack boost for 15 seconds. She also gains some energy regen, which allows her to cast her resonance liberation almost every rotation.

The only main echo option for this set is Impermance Heron. During its uptime, Yinlin gains energy regen and the next resonator after her outro skill will receive a damage boost as well.

Best Yinlin weapons in Wuthering Waves

Stringmaster, Rime-draped Sprouts, Cosmic ripples, Augment and Jinzhou Keeper are the best weapons for Yinlin in Wuthering Waves.

Stringmaster (5-star)

Kicking off this list is the Stringmaster which is Yinlin’s signature weapon. Stringmaster brings 36% crit rate, 24% ATK and 12% attribute damage bonus. When she’s off-field, the ATK boost goes up by 12%. While it’s true that there are several alternatives to Stringmaster, this weapon outperforms them by a large margin, making this weapon a must-have for Yinlin mains especially.

Rime-Draped Sprouts (5-star)

Rime-draped Sprouts is Yinlin’s second-best weapon, even if it’s mainly just a stats stick. The basic attack damage increase doesn’t do much for her off-field damage, but the crit damage and attack bonuses make it a solid choice when Stringmaster’s not an option.

Cosmic Ripples (5-star)

One of the standard weapons, Cosmic Ripples, is also a decent pick for the best Yinlin build. It’s a good stats stick that boosts ATK for a nice damage increase and gives some energy regen, letting her use resonance liberation in every rotation.

Augment (4-star)

Out of all battle pass weapons in Wuthering Waves, Augment may be one of the best, especially at R5. If players are lucky enough to get one, giving it to Yinlin is a smart choice. At R5, Augment offers 48% ATK and 20% crit rate leading to a big boost in her on and off-field damage.

Jinzhou Keeper (4-star)

For those playing free-to-play, Jinzhou Keeper is worth considering. This 4-star weapon may not have crit stats, but it compensates with a massive ATK boost.

Best Yinlin team compositions in Wuthering Waves

Yinlin works best when paired with Electro damage-dealers or DPS units that depend on resonance liberation. Besides using the best Yinlin build, pairing her with resonators that click with her playstyle can make all the difference.

Best Electro WuWa Team – Xiangli Yao, Yinlin and Shorekeeper

When it comes to electro teams, the Xiangli Yao-Yinlin-Shorekeeper trio comes out on top, as this team composition has perfect synergy with each other. Xiangli Yao is Wuthering Waves’ current best Electro DPS, and since a huge chunk of his damage is considered resonance liberation, he’s the ideal choice for Yinlin. With Shorekeeper’s presence, both damage dealers can benefit from her healing, crit, and attack buffs.

Calcharo Hypercarry Team – Calcharo, Yinlin and Shorekeeper

Calcharo’s kit has some similarities with Xiangli Yao, as he focuses on dealing Electro damage, with most of his output coming from resonance liberation. That said, adding Yinlin and Shorekeeper to the trio is expected to push his damage even higher.

Best Yinlin F2P Team – Havoc Rover, Yinlin and Baizhi

Thanks to her dual role as a sub-DPS and buffer, Yinlin is flexible enough to slot into many team setups without any issues, even for a budget-friendly F2P team featuring Havoc Rover and Baizhi.

Havoc Rover and their resonance chains are completely free, making them a solid DPS choice for beginners or anyone who missed out on Calcharo or Xiangli Yao. While Havoc Rover isn’t an electro unit, she still adds plenty of value to the main character. As an off-field unit, she can contribute extra damage while Havoc Rover stays active on the field, and she also boosts their resonance liberation, which delivers massive burst damage. With their short cooldowns, Yinlin and Havoc Rover can easily run a quickswap setup, sharing field time seamlessly. Meanwhile, Baizhi can step into the third slot to handle healing and provide some extra buffs.
