Melonie Mac banned from Twitch again, and not for eating butter

Melonie Mac banned Twitch

Melonie Mac has been banned from Twitch yet again, and she doesn’t care.

Controversial Twitch streamer Melonie Mac has been given a new suspension from Twitch. The reason behind the punishment has not been shared publicly by the streaming platform but it’s not too surprising to the streaming community — or to Melonie herself. Her recent rebrand has her sharing extremist rhetoric, and she doesn’t seem upset by the consequences.

“I don’t care that I’m banned again from a failing platform, I don’t need Twitch.” Melonie said. “They can’t control me. Hopefully next ban they make permanent.”

Why was Melonie Mac banned?

The reason Melonie Mac was banned from Twitch is not officially known, but Melonie has an idea. On X, she shared a clip that she thinks led to the most recent ban.

In the clip, Melonie repeated a homophobic slur multiple times. In that same clip, Melonie stood up for the use of the word because she said being gay is “not a nice thing” and compared it to “murder.”

While some of her fans agreed with the discourse, most people reacted with hostility towards Melonie Mac’s clip. Some argued that she was misrepresenting Christianity and misinterpreting the Bible, while others simply applauded the fact that she was banned for what could be seen as hate speech.

A few people on X suggested that Melonie Mac was putting on an act for her fanbase in order to get money, sharing old tweets where she appeared to be in support of gay people back in 2018.

How many times has Melonie Mac been banned?

Melonie Mac has been banned from Twitch three times. Often, Twitch will permanently ban anyone with four bans although its policy often seems a bit on the inconsistent side.

Her previous bans were for hate speech and it’s shaping up to be most likely hate speech that is behind this most recent ban as well.

What is the Melonie Mac controversy?

Melonie Mac is generally disliked for her extreme takes on LGBTQ+ and other minority groups. This has led many to react positively to her latest ban, with some in the streaming community calling it a “rare Twitch W.” The discourse surrounding Melonie Mac over the past few years has been her seemingly swift spiral into potentially harmful rhetoric. She previously supported trans and gay people as late as 2021, making the change confusing for some fans.

Other controversies surrounding Melonie Mac are a bit stranger. In 2022 she became so dehydrated that she ended up in the ER, admitting she had not drank water for days on end. Another time, she went viral for eating an entire stick of butter raw. It was never really explained why that video of her dancing and eating butter was posted to begin with.
