Melonie Mac banned from Twitch again, is it permanent this time?

Melonie Mac streamer ban

Controversial-on-purpose streamer Melonie Mac is unsurprisingly banned from Twitch again and but will this one be permanent?

Melonie Mac is a controversial name in the larger content creator space. Over recent times, she’s been defined by anti-LGBT rhetoric and her use of homophobic slurs on-stream. This has seen her get banned by Twitch on numerous occasions.

Her latest ban from the platform is no different. Here’s what happened and what comes next for the streamer.

Melonie Mac celebrates another Twitch ban

It seems like just yesterday that Melonie Mac was banned. In August, Melonie Mac was banned for using homophobic slurs on stream.

At that time, she laughed it off and even threatened Twitch to permanently ban her, calling it a “failing platform.” On September 5, 2024, Melonie Mac partially got her wish and was suspended once more. This time it was for very similar offenses. Twitch did not give an explanation publicly, but the ban follows her use of homophobic slurs on-stream while preaching the Bible.

“I think it’s hilarious,” she tweeted.

Melonie Mac is disregarding the ban and using the attention to promote her presence on other social media platforms. She announced that she’s currently streaming on Rumble and YouTube. She followed this with more homophobic comments on Twitter.

Is Melonie Mac’s ban from Twitch permanent?

Melonie Mac is not permanently banned from Twitch.

Despite being what appears to be a pattern of bans for hate speech, Twitch has not yet de-platformed her. This is made clear by the notification on her Twitch channel.

“This channel is temporarily unavailable due to a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service,” the notification reads.

If a ban is permanent, it would instead say that the channel is “currently unavailable.” The notification saying that the channel is “temporarily unavailable” indicates that the ban will be lifted.

Many have wondered what caused her to change content so drastically over the years. Some believe it’s due to money and fame, pointing to the growth of her following since.

It’s unclear how long her ban will last this time. This is her third time being banned in 2024 and her fourth ban from Twitch overall. At one point, three strikes translated to a permanent ban from Twitch, but those days are long gone. While one might think that the overtness of her infractions, her lack of repentance, and her multiple bans might lead to a permanent ejection from the platform, that’s not the case yet.
