After working their way through the earliest portions of the game, Metaphor: ReFantazio players will start encountering Blue Elementa monsters, but it’s not immediately obvious how to defeat them or their differently colored constituents.
RPGs often have a gimmicky mob that is elusive, but offers a special reward if the player can kill it. Whether it’s Persona 3’s hands or the crystal lizards of Dark Souls, every modern RPG has some iteration of this idea. Metaphor: ReFantazio does the same with Elementa enemies.
Elementas look like floating orbs, but offer some solid rewards for those that manage to kill them. This is easier said than done, though, as they’re difficult to defeat in the overworld and are quick to flee once battle is initiated. But much like Persona’s hand enemies, they can be defeated by using the appropriate spells.
How to defeat a Blue Elementa in Metaphor: ReFantazio
Players can defeat Blue Elementas by bursting them down with fire skills and spells after establishing an advantage.
Regardless of anything, players will have only a short amount of time to defeat an Elementa. This requires a hard-hitting and fast fight. Regardless of the circumstances, players need to defeat Elementas quickly, lest they simply flee from battle.
Each type of Elementa has a single weakness and for the Blue Elementas, it’s fire. Hitting one with fire attacks deals bonus damage and, more importantly, adds some extra turns for the party. Characters that don’t have any fire damage options ought to use their strongest attack and hope for a critical hit. Though they’re not weak to any type of physical damage, a critical hit will still give the party more opportunities to attack.
All Elementa weaknesses
Blue, Red, Gold, and Green Elementa all have a single elemental weakness that players can exploit to defeat them. Here’s a handy table for remembering the corresponding weakness:
Elementa | Weakness |
Blue Elementa | Fire |
Red Elementa | Ice |
Green Elementa | Electric |
Gold Elementa | Wind |
Regardless of what stage of the game the player is in, party members using the mage archetype are going to be the most reliable source of elemental damage. The mage doesn’t have overwhelming power, but has access to a variety of spells. This lets them reliably find and hit weaknesses in enemies. Naturally, this is made even easier by knowing those weaknesses in advance.
Beyond that, players can use different tools available to them to exploit weaknesses. Igniters, certain weapons, and select items can deal elemental damage without requiring players to change their archetype. This lets players topically prepare for a battle with an Elementa without having to go visit More.
