Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has over 180 iconic anime characters on its roster but it apparently was originally meant to have even more, including Android Super 17.
A leaker going by MondaMega datamined the game and found a lot of characters in the game’s files that were not included in the final roster once the game was released. Names on that list include Supreme Kai, King Vegeta, Demon King Piccolo, and more. The most intriguing is Super 17, who many believed was supposed to be in the game at launch.
Here is what we know about the character name leaks and what it means for the future.
Was Super 17 supposed to be in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero?
It is now believed that Super 17 was meant to be in the starting roster of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero after the character was found in the game’s files.
After MondaMega uncovered Super17’s internal character ID in the game’s files, it seemed highly likely that Super 17 was meant to be a playable character. This popular character’s absence has upset a lot of players but it’s uncertain why he was exactly cut from the roster.

MondoMega explained that Super 17 and more were allegedly planned but were later “scrapped” at some point in the development process. Super 17, Great Saiyaman 2, and other Shadow Dragons were listed underneath the base character list, making it seem that these characters were originally part of the plan for the game’s base roster.
Will Super 17 come to Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero as DLC?
Leakers believe that Super 17 will indeed be coming to Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero as a DLC character. The other excluded alternate forms are also theorized to be paid DLC instead of part of the base roster.
This has frustrated players since the datamine showed that these characters were originally planned for the title’s initial release. Dragon Ball fans felt upset that they could have had these popular forms and characters when the game started, but now it’s unknown when the DLC will come and how much it’ll cost — if Super 17 is even going to be DLC.
Super 17 was created by evil scientists Dr. Myuu and Dr. Gero, a fusion between two powerful characters: Android 17 and Hell Fighter 17. He is the main villain of the Super 17 saga, often seen as immune to incoming attacks from protagonists even while at his base power. His exact power level is up for debate. In the anime, Super 17 claims he’s twice as strong as Android 17. In a special mission in a Dragon Ball video game, his power levels are 1,500,000,000 and 1,799,926,758.
With his telekinetic powers, energy attacks, and ultra sensitivity, Super 17 would be a formidable fighter in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero.
