Mortal Kombat 1 Switch leaks show rough graphics, performance

Mortal Kombat 1 switch

Footage of Mortal Kombat 1 on the Nintendo Switch has seemingly leaked online and it’s looking like the platform may struggle to handle the game.

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to come out very soon, and while that imminent release already has gamers excited, some apparently leaked footage has also gained the attention of fans. The leaked footage is purportedly gameplay from the Nintendo Switch version. This comes days after the final member of the MK1 roster was revealed by a leaker who claimed to have a Nintendo Switch copy of the game, with that reveal later being confirmed by WB Games.

The previous Mortal Kombat title, Mortal Kombat 11, had a lower review score average on the Switch than any other platform which stemmed from lower performance and graphics quality. It seems that those issues will persist with Mortal Kombat 1, but may be even more pronounced.

Is Mortal Kombat 1 on Nintendo Switch any good?

Footage of Mortal Kombat 1 on Switch shows weaker graphics and minor visual bugs.

The leaked footage supposedly showed Mileena performing a gory fatality on Johnny Cage. The graphics are noticeably weaker than what is seen in promotional materials shot in other versions of the game. Alongside the softer models and textures, floating blood and viscera can be seen and textures can be seen loading in during the victory screen. These have left many fans worried about the port’s technical quality upon release.

Players can likely expect improved performance once the game actually launches, however. Mortal Kombat 1 will likely receive a day-one patch that could improve upon the leaked version Switch players would have their hands on at this moment.

Mortal Kombat 11’s Nintendo Switch port also had noticeable technical issues upon release. The biggest criticism of all regarded the Krypt, which had significantly weaker graphics on top of random crashes. With Mortal Kombat 1 featuring a single-player mode as well, fans are worried that the issues plaguing the Krypt also resurface.

When is Mortal Kombat 1 coming out on the Nintendo Switch?

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch on September 19, 2023.

Mortal Kombat 1’s Nintendo Switch port will arrive on the same day as every other platform. It’s worth noting that the Kollector and Premium Editions of Mortal Kombat 1 offer early access. Though the closed beta test was exclusive to Xbox and PlayStation consoles, early access will be available on those platforms as well as PC and Switch.
