Pokemon TCG Pocket: rarest cards from Celestial Guardians

Which Celestial Guardians pack to pull from to get the rarest cards in the set.

Celestial Guardians brings a mix of new rare cards to Pokemon TCG Pocket, with the rarest ranging from shiny Pokemon to the coveted gold crown cards.

The third main set in Pokemon TCG Pocket, Celestial Guardians, showcases Gen 7 and the world of Alola. Lunala and Solgaleo take center stage as the mascots of the new boosters. With other cards like full-art Alolan Marowak and new item rare candy revealed in the trailer, players have had a lot to look forward to.

Now that Celestial Guardians is out, the rarest cards are all available for pulling. Here are the rarest new cards that players should look out for in Pokemon TCG Pocket.

What is the rarest card in Celestial Guardians?

As is the cast in most Pokemon TCG Pocket sets, the rarest cards in Celestial Guardians are the gold crown Lunala ex and Solgaleo ex, the duel mascots of this new expansion.

Following the pattern of past sets, the mascots for the new set get the rarest cards. Lunala and Solgaleo feature prominently across Celestial Guardians, from getting multiple full arts to their basic ex forms. Yet nowhere are they more desired than in their gold crown form.

In Pokemon TCG Pocket Celestial Guardians, gold crown Lunala ex and Solgaleo are the rarest cards available.

Regardless of the total size of the set, players always have an 0.040% chance of pulling a random gold crown card. With just two gold crown cards in Celestial Guardians, there’s only an 0.020% chance then of getting a specific one. This makes them more common than similar cards in Genetic Apex but less common than those in Triumphant Light.

One important note on the rest of the rarest cards in Celestial Guardian is that they’re split by pack. For instance, two-star Decidueye ex can only be found in the Lunala booster. The Solgaleo pack instead has Incineroar ex. Those looking for a specific card below should choose wisely.

Other rare cards to open in Celestial Guardians

Pokemon TCG Pocket card collectors have choice to make – which themed pack to open most to get their preferred rare Celestial Guardian cards.

The other major tiers of rare cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket are two-star, shiny ex, and shiny. Of these, the two-star cards are the rarest with each card having an 0.035% chance of turning up. This is in part because of the size of the pack – with 239 total cards and 14 two-star cards in each set, the overall rarity of each is reduced.

The rainbow-border Alolan Raichu ex and the shiny Exeggutor ex are some of the rarest cards from Celestial Guardians.

Shiny cards are technically rarer on an individual basis than shiny ex cards for the same reason. Players have an overall 0.714% chance of pulling any regular shiny card, but only an 0.071% chance of pulling a specific one of ten. Shiny ex cards as a whole are rarer at an 0.333% likelihood, but only have four cards per booster, so they end up being more common per individual card.

Here is every card players can find in the Celestial Guardians booster packs, sorted by Solgaleo vs Lunala;

There is no guaranteed way to pull the rarest cards in Celestial Guardians other than to keep opening packs. Players can get more hourglasses and shorten their waiting time by completing solo AI battles, meeting mission criteria, or spending real-world currency.

For some, an investment in a premium subscription may be worth it for the extra daily pack to get that gold crown Lunala ex.
