Zenless Zone Zero version 1.7 is delivering a fair bit of fresh content, but all eyes are on ZZZ 2.0’s release date and the banner of new character Yixuan.
Fans are already slicing their way through the final part of the season-one epilogue chapter. Vivian and Hugo are in the spotlight but the story has mostly been focused on establishing the new antagonists and characters for next season. That includes introducing Yixuan and teasing the goals of the ominous cult known as The Exaltists.
Players won’t really know what the deal is until verison 2.0 arrives, so when is it coming out? And which other characters will appear in banners? The answers have been revealed.
ZZZ 2.0, Yixuan release date set
The release date for ZZZ 2.0 and the arrival of Yixuan through her new character banner are set for June 5, 2025. Naturally, this will align with the end of ZZZ patch 1.7’s runtime, and the banners of Hugo and Lighter.
The 2.0 update is being labeled as the start of the game’s second season. That’s fitting, as the game is set to move to a new locale.
The Zenless Zone Zero story thus far has focused on New Eridu, a modern-looking city with a slight retro slant. Starting with Zenless Zone Zero’s 2.0 update, the game will take that idea and put an Asian twist on it. Developers have stated this will be accompanied by major gameplay changes to both the general gameplay system and to individual characters.
And of course, the arrival of Zenless Zone Zero version 2.0 will also be accompanied by a new set of banners. Drip marketing has confirmed multiple new characters that will arrive in the patch.
Zenless Zone Zero 2.0 banners include Yixuan, Jufufu
The first ZZZ 2.0 banner is set to include Yixuan as the limited S-rank character, while a new A-rank character Pan Yinhu.
The release date for Yixuan’s banner coincides with the launch of ZZZ 2.0. This was confirmed through drip marketing on the game’s official social media account. She will be backed up by Pan Yinhu, the “kung fu panda” that appeared alongside her in the teaser trailer for the update. Also appearing as an S-rank character during the patch will be Ju Fufu.
The reveal of these characters came through drip marketing on Zenless Zone Zero’s official Twitter account. The rollout was similar to what was seen with version 1.6, where Soldier 0 Anby, Pulchra, and Trigger were revealed in quick succession.
As for rerun banners, notable leakers of ZZZ say that Astra Yao and Caesar will return during the 2.0 patch, with Astra Yao sharing Yixuan’s release date.
Caesar’s return is long overdue, as Burnice and Lighter both cut ahead of her in terms of actual release order. Astra Yao will be doing the same and will reportedly appear in the first phase. Her return is well ahead of schedule, as she will start her comeback tour ahead of version 1.3’s Yanagi and 1.4’s Miyabi.
Regardless, that means that players need to really weigh their options when it comes to pulls. Yixuan is likely to be an incredibly strong DPS option, while Caesar and Astra Yao are both top-tier support options. Make sure to have a big store of Polychromes.
