With a new Pokemon TCG Pocket booster set comes new rare card chases, and Wisdom of Sea and Sky brings plenty of new cards that join the ranks of the game’s rarest.

Pokemon TCG Pocket fans have long been awaiting the introduction of the Johto region and the second generation of Pokemon to the game. Featured cards so far have included the legendary Ho-Oh and Lugia, as well as starters and baby Pokemon. Still, players are eager to see what the gold crown and full art cards from the set will be.

Wisdom of Sea and Sky brings a number of new rarest cards to Pokemon TCG Pocket, including new gold crowns to chase after.

What is the rarest card in Wisdom of Sea and Sky?

Wisdom of Sea and Sky has two cards that qualify as its rarest: the gold crown Ho-Oh and gold crown Lugia cards.

With two booster packs available in the set, each one has its own gold crown card. Ho-Oh fans will want to pull from the Ho-Oh pack, and the same for Lugia and its respective pack. Gold crown cards are always the rarest in a set, with an 0.040% chance of pulling any such card. With two cards available, the overall chance of pulling a specific one drops to 0.020%.

Ho-Oh and Lugia feature dominantly throughout the new Pokemon TCG pocket set. Players can find both gold crowns in each of the boosters, and each booster has its own immersive rare copy of the titular Pokemon. The immersive rare design, interestingly, is being remade due to issues of “incorrect reference materials.”

Additionally, Lugia and Ho-Oh get their own two star and regular ex cards with this new booster set.

More rare cards from Wisdom of Sea and Sky

The other rare cards from the Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion are two-star full art cards and some new shiny Pokemon cards.

As is typical with the introduction of multiple new boosters to the game, rare cards in in the newest Pokemon TCG Pocket are mainly sorted by pack. This means that players may be able to find a specific two-star card in the Ho-Oh booster, but not in Lugia.

Two-star full arts are the next rarest category of Pokemon TCG Pocket cards per card, with a 0.500% chance of pulling any but only a 0.041% of pulling a specific one per booster. Next comes the ex shiny cards, with a total pull rate of 0.333% and four cards to pick. The final rarest card set is the regular shiny cards with an overall higher pull rate of 0.714%, but a lower individual pull rate at only 0.071% due to there being more cards of this type to collect.

The shiny ex Pachirisu and rainbow border Umbreon are two of the rarest cards from Wisdom of Sea and Sky.

Players looking to pull the rarest cards in Wisdom of Sea and Sky mainly have to rely on luck to get the exact card they want. Even when trading opens back up, players can only trade for one-star and below cards. The only sure way of getting a gold crown Lugia, then, is by spending Pack Points, which accumulate slowly over time. Otherwise, players will just have to hope that they get particularly lucky with their pack openings.
