The PlayStation store has spilled the beans on the highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption PC port, spoiling Rockstar Games’ announcement for a completely different platform.
Red Dead Redemption famously skipped a release on PC, keeping PC gamers in limbo for over a decade. Despite Red Dead Redemption 2 making its way to Steam, the first part remains elusive from the platform. However, a recent posting by PlayStation might have ruined Rockstar’s plans for a grand reveal.
To add salt to the wound, Red Dead Redemption was ported to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in August 2023. Rockstar decided to pass on PC gamers once again for the re-release, adding more fuel to the fire. It seems at least a PC port is planned at Rockstar; it’s only a matter of when it’ll get announced.
PlayStation Store cites Red Dead Redemption PC Port
The PlayStation Store’s entry for Red Dead Redemption references a PC version of the game, suggesting that a PC port could be coming for the game. Keen-eyed fans noticed the “Game and Legal Info” section of the the game’s PlayStation Store page mentions a PC version.
“Experience the epic western adventures that defined a generation — now on PC for the first time ever,” the entry reads.
The rest of the description lists all the features expected from the game. There is no other mention of a PC version in the description. This remained on the PlayStation Store for a long while, giving fans hope. The text could just be a mistake on PlayStation’s end, or the page manager simply copied and pasted the Rockstar-provided excerpt.
However, this continues a pattern of gaffes from the PlayStation Store. The shop has mislabeled, leaked, and even prematurely released games several times.
Red Dead Redemption PC port release date info
Though a PC port of Red Dead Redemption on PC is effectively confirmed, there’s still no release date info.
With Grand Theft Auto 6 hitting Holidays 2025, Rockstar has a wide berth for this Red Dead Redemption port.
There has been no official acknowledgement from Rockstar about a potential PC port. Previously, several leaks mentioned the hotly anticipated cowboy adventure. A data miner named Tez2 found marketing strings that were remarkably close to those found on the PlayStation Store.
The marketing blurb mentioned that players could “journey across the sprawling American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare – now playable on PC.” Fans weren’t happy about the high price tag of the remastered version of RDR. It remains to be seen how well a PC port is received.
