Riot Games has revealed the release date for Valorant’s upcoming agent VYSE, a Sentinel with game-changing abilities that fans are already excited about.
Agent 26 was leaked in July and data miners had informed fans that the new agent would be revealed at Valorant Champions 2024. Riot Games had teased the reveal of the forthcoming agent on X, but hadn’t provided any information beyond that.
However, thanks to data miners leaking information, fans knew that the new agent was a Sentinel named VYSE seeking shelter in Korea. Now, Riot Games has officially revealed the upcoming agent by sharing a release trailer on the official Valorant X account.
When will VYSE be available to play in Valorant?
VYSE will be added to and made available for play Valorant on August 28, 2024.
Agent VYSE is a Sentinal who can trap, blind, and disarm enemies, making her a useful strategic tool in one’s arsenal. She was seeking shelter in Korea, and her current goal is to take revenge on those who previously held her captive.
The reveal trailer showed the abilities for VYSE after her release date was also confirmed, but it was difficult to gauge whether she is human or not. Fans will likely learn more about her and her origins through voice lines and other story elements when she arrives in the game.
VYSE abilities revealed
VYSE is a Sentinel agent with revealed abilities that can flash, contain, and disarm enemies when used properly.
VYSE has three core abilities:
- Arc Rose – A rose that can be placed on any surface and when activated will blind any enemy that looks at the rose.
- Shear – A wall trap that can be placed on any wall and when activated builds a metal wall once an enemy players walk past.
- Razorvine – A metal nest can be placed on the floor and when activated will turn into a thorn trap that will bind enemies.
VYSE’s ultimate is Steel Garden, an ability that doesn’t need any traps to be placed or activated. VYSE can manipulate liquid metal to lock the enemy’s primary weapons for a couple of seconds and force them to use their secondary weapons.
VYSE’s ultimate has fans wondering whether the new agent is overpowered, as being unable to shoot in a first-person tactical shooter sounds like a difficult obstacle to overcome. Riot Games will likely nerf VYSE’s abilities if she proves to be overpowered, but that still remains to be seen.
