It’s been a while since Riot Games last introduced a game-changing ability to Valorant, but if leaks are to be believed, the new Agent VYSE could be the meta-shaker the game needs.
The name of the upcoming Valorant agent 26 was recently leaked as VYSE. Fans also got confirmation that she’s a sentinel who’s currently seeking shelter in Korea. The most recent, and reportedly the last teaser for VYSE, suggests that she has finally come in contact with Jett. That means her release is potentially imminent.
But all of that information is irrelevant to the gameplay itself. Heads turned regarding the leaked information regarding VYSE’s abilities in Valorant.
What are VYSE’s abilities in Valorant?
VYSE is reportedly set to have the unique ability to disarm enemies.
This is according to data miner ValorantUpdated on X. VYSE’s toolkit has yet to be officially revealed, but icons for each of her abilities have been leaked. From what leakers have gleaned, VYSE will be a flasher who will directly impact Valorant’s gunplay.
The last agent who turned the meta around in terms of gunplay was Kay/O, who forced enemies to use their weapons instead of abilities. Now, leaks suggest that VYSE will do the opposite. According to a report, her ultimate will temporarily disable enemies from using their weapons.
When her ultimate is triggered at eight orb points, she disables nearby enemies’ weapons, leaving them to fend for themselves without their guns. This was strongly hinted at in leaked icons, depicting her clawed hands ensnaring a Vandal with her signature tendrils. Besides this, leakers are positive that VYSE will have a flash to allow her to take down flanking enemies.
There’s no information about how the ultimate will work at the mechanical level. Whether it’s an AOE around VYSE or a deployed item like Killjoy’s ultimate is unclear. It’s also unknown how long this debuff will last, or if this stops the guns from firing or takes them away from players entirely.
Teasers point at ensnaring abilities that may catch enemies. Paired with her flash, VYSE sounds like an epic crowd controller. If the leaks end up being true, then ability-focused agents like Chamber will see a spike in their pick rate. Since VYSE would only suppress weapons and not abilities, Chamber will be the only agent with functional bullets in his golden magazine. The masked agent will join the protocol between August 28 and 30.
