PlayStation has dropped a first look at the Boba Fett gameplay for Star Wars: Bounty Hunter and the upcoming game was immediately slammed for bad graphics.
A remake of the 2002 game for the PS2 and GameCube, Bounty Hunter follows Jango Fett as he becomes involved in a death stick smuggling scheme while trying to take down dark jedi Komari Vosa. The game received mixed reviews, but a general positive that critics found was that the graphics were good. Unfortunately, that was back in 2002, and times have changed since.
How bad are the graphics in Star Wars: Bounty Hunter? Here’s what potential players have been able to see so far.
Fans complain of bad graphics in the Star Wars: Bounty Hunter trailer
After the release of the post-game first look with Boba Fett, many fans are roasting the seemingly bad graphics in Star Wars: Bounty Hunter.
From the trailer, the graphics look clunky and outdated. One particular snippet of Jabba the Hutt looks as though it was ripped straight out of 2002. Ultimately, none of the graphics compare to the quality seen in the splash art or the previously chosen gameplay selections.
The video on X immediately started racking up comments, mainly about the bad graphics. Some fans were blunt, stating that they would skip the game altogether and that it looked horrible. Others mentioned just breaking out their old copy of Bounty Hunters on their GameCube or PS2, rather than paying up for a seemingly lackluster remaster.
Bounty Hunters isn’t the only Star Wars game coming out this year, but it certainly seems to be setting a negative tone for the gaming franchise.
Major Bounty Hunter updates include new Boba Fett skin, remastered visuals
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is finally fulfilling an easter egg from the original game with Boba Fett actually featuring, as well as remastered visuals and system compatibility.
The 2002 Bounty Hunters included an easter egg quest that told players to “cash in all bounties to play as Boba.” However, this never materialized in the PS2 game or the limited-release 2016 remaster for the PS4.
A new PlayStation post on X showed clearly that Boba Fett will be playable, and developer Asper confirmed that players will be able to use the skin in the post-game. Other updates to the game include bump map refinements, dynamic lighting, and fresh integration with PS5 features like the adaptive triggers.
Fans can play Star Wars: Bounty Hunters on August 1 on a number of platforms, including the PS5 and Xbox One. Only time will tell if the graphics are any better in-game than in these first looks.
