Stardew Valley’s major 1.6 update came out on PC, but fans are now wondering about a release date for mobile devices, Nintendo Switch, and other consoles.
Stardew Valley’s massive 1.6 update finally came out on March 19, 2024, allowing PC players to enjoy all its many new features. There are new items like the new jelly resources and the new farm type; the meadowlands farms. There are also various quality-of-life improvements and extra quests. However, while Stardew Valley’s PC version has it, console and mobile players are left wondering when they’ll get it.
Fortunately, Stardew Valley developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone gave fans some details on when other versions of the game will get the 1.6 update. A post made by the developer also provides info on whether the update is in development for other Stardew Valley ports.
Stardew Valley 1.6 release date info for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch consoles
There’s no exact date for when Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update will come to consoles, but they are confirmed to be in development
In the blog post announcing the release of the Stardew Valley 1.6 update on PC, developer ConcernedApe stated that although there’s no exact date for when the console ports will get the update, they’re “actively in development.”
While there’s no official word of when the 1.6 update will hit consoles, past updates can give fans an idea of when it may come out. The 1.5 update took less than 2 months to come to consoles after its PC release while the 1.4 update took less than a month. Therefore, Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update might come to the console versions on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in relatively short order. Anyone that still happens to have the game on PlayStation Vita will be disappointed, though.
Traditionally, Stardew Valley updates arrive on all consoles simultaneously, suggesting that Xbox, Nintendo, and PlayStation will all get the update at the same time.
When will Stardew Valley 1.6 come to mobile devices?
There’s no date for when Stardew Valley 1.6 will come to mobile and fans may have to wait longer than those who enjoy the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
ConcernedApe informed fans on the official Stardew Valley website that the 1.6 console update was in development alongside the mobile version. No timetable was given, but mobile players have cause for concern.
While console versions typically get updates shortly after the PC version, the same isn’t true for the mobile versions of Stardew Valley. Stardew Valley version 1.5 hit mobile devices in 2023. The update was initially released for PC in 2020.
Part of the reason for this, according to ConcernedApe, was that the app needed a significant rework to accommodate the additions made by version 1.5. He stated on Twitter that this adjustment should shorten the release layover between the PC and mobile versions of 1.6, though it’s unclear how much of an impact this may have.
