Eddy Gordo has been confirmed as the first character for Season 1 of Tekken 8 DLC.
As the release date for Tekken 8 approaches, the hype is higher than ever. With such a successful year for fighting games in 2023 thanks to the success of Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1, Tekken 8 is looking to keep the FGC train going.
The latest trailer included the reveal of Tekken 8’s opening movie, which showcased the entire roster duking it out on the battlefield. The overarching storyline integrates the rest of the roster into the Kazama-Mishima family conflict, in sharp contrast to how separate they were in Tekken 7. However, the biggest news from this trailer is the reveal of Season 1 DLC and the return of a beloved character.
Is Eddy Gordo back in Tekken 8?
Eddy Gordo is the first character of Tekken 8’s Season 1 DLC, arriving in Spring 2024.
Eddy Gordo is one of the most beloved characters in Tekken history, making his debut in Tekken 3 as the first-ever capoeira practitioner in the series. From former heir to a multi-million dollar corporation, ex-Tekken Force leader, and now Lucky Chloe survivor, Eddy has had quite the journey throughout the series’ history.
Eddy’s unique fighting style and status as the first Afro-Latino character in the franchise have cemented him as a fan favorite. From what little glimpses fans see in the reveal trailer, his moveset looks to be quite similar to what it’s always been. This also keeps Eddy’s streak of being in every Tekken game since his debut going.
Tekken 8 DLC roster leak may be confirmed
The reveal of Eddy Gordo in Tekken 8 may serve as confirmation of a leak of Tekken 8’s first batch of DLC characters.
The German PlayStation Store page for Tekken 8 seemingly revealed the full roster of Season 1 DLC characters. This was quickly deleted, but not before it was caught by fans and posted to social media. Other characters that were a part of this included Armor King, Roger the Kangaroo, and a new character named Xiao Meng. Some have also claimed that Josie Rizal will be a part of Tekken 8’s DLC roster, though none of this has been confirmed outside Eddy Gordo.
It’s unclear if this is a forerunner to a larger announcement of the full lineup of characters for the season pass, similar to what was seen in Mortal Kombat 1 with the Kombat Pass. More characters will inevitably be announced with time. Either way, fans can now officially look forward to having one of Tekken’s most iconic characters available in the game.
