Stalker 2 offers endless customization options for weapons through attachments, but which are the best?
The range of weapons in Stalker 2 spans everything from small handguns to RPGs and Gauss guns. Interestingly, the base versions of these weapons can be heavily modified. Attachments such as scopes, silencers, and magazines are scattered throughout the radioactive ruins of Stalker 2. Each attachment only works for specific weapons, adding another layer of planning to the player’s survival.
While the locations of most items are randomized, there is always at least one definitive location for collecting an attachment. Some attachments in Stalker 2 can be retrieved in the open world, while others can be bought with coupons from traders. As for which attachments are the best, it depends on the player and their preferred way of surviving the Zone. The following attachments may prove useful for the most popular playstyles.
Holographic Sight
A holographic sight designed to be mounted on a Picatinny rail, favored by the militaries of Western countries.
- Weight: 0.3 kg
- Value: 3,700
The Holographic Sight is one of the earliest scopes the player can find in Stalker 2. This scope is versatile thanks to its compatibility with multiple weapons, regardless of type. It is also well within the player’s budget in the early game.
The Holographic Sight can fit on:
- AR416
- Dnipro
- Fora-221
- GP37
- Integral-A
- Kharod
- M860 Cracker
- RAM-2
- SPSA-14
- Viper-5
The modified scope can be purchased from Hamster, the Trader at Zalissya in the Lesser Zone.
Storm Falcon 8X Scope
This high-magnification scope designed to be mounted on a Picatinny rail is effective for hunting both mutants and humans.
- Weight: 0.4 kg
- Value: 9,500
The Storm Falcon 8X Scope provides the longest possible range on a NATO sniper rifle. Combined with a Sniper Rifle Silencer, the modded weapon makes for the ultimate long-range, rapid-fire stealth build. Perfect for a game where staying far away from others is highly recommended.
The Storm Falcon 8X Scope can fit on:
- Mark I EMR
The scope can be found pre-installed on a Mark I EMR. The weapon can be found lying on a table in a room at the top of a tall building in Prypiat. This location is right at the junction where the borders of the Prypiat, Generators, and Jupiter regions intersect.
Sniper Rifle Silencer
Designed for NATO sniper rifles, this modern silencer efficiently disperses the sound of the shot and muzzle flash, enabling the shooter to remain undetected for an extended period of time.
- Weight: 0.6 kg
- Value: 12,000
NATO sniper rifles are some of the loudest guns in Stalker 2. The noise essentially cancels out any benefit of the sniper’s hiding spot. Mounting the Sniper Rifle Silencer makes the weapon far quieter, giving it much-needed stealth capabilities.
The Sniper Rifle Silencer can fit on:
- Mark I EMR
- M701 Super
The silencer can be found attached to a Mark I EMR. The gun is propped up on the balcony of a building south of the Sunny Kindergarten location in central Prypiat.
POS 8X Scope
A high-magnification Soviet scope designed to fit on a dovetail mount.
- Weight: 0.6 kg
- Value: 9,500
The default VS Vintar rifle is an all-around weapon. The gun offers both rapid-fire and stealth in a small package. Its biggest downside is the lack of magnification, making it a poor choice against distant enemies. The scope fixes that with an impressive zoom.
The POS 8X Scope can fit on:
- VS Vintar
The attachment can be purchased from Wreck, the Trader at Yaniv Station in Yaniv.
Coupled AKM-74 Magazines
Coupled magazines for 5.45×39 caliber weapons, compatible with the AKM-74 and AKM-74U.
- Weight: 0.25 kg
- Value: 4,500
- Ammo: 60
Supplies of both the AKM-74 and ammunition are plentiful in the Zone. Unfortunately for trigger-happy players, the small 30-round magazine makes sustained fire impossible. These coupled magazines significantly reduce downtime between magazine swaps, a must in tense situations.
The Coupled AKM-74 Magazines can fit on::
- AKM-74S
- AKM-74U
The magazines can be found in the northern section of Backwater at the Fish Farm location. The attachment is inside a bag hanging atop the shed roof, accessible via a ladder.
Coupled Dnipro Magazines
A pretty solid coupling of 5.45х39 caliber magazines. Used in Dnipro assault rifle with bullpup configuration.
- Weight: 0.25 kg
- Value: 7,500
- Ammo: 60
Many players consider the Dnipro the best assault rifle in the game. These coupled magazines reduce the time between reloads, an especially useful benefit in extended firefights.
The Coupled Dnipro Magazines can fit on::
- Dnipro
The coupled magazines can be found in a duffel bag near a corpse in a small, partially boarded-up brick house. The bag is situated in eastern Cooling Towers, on the main road just south of the Nagirtsi Village Cemetery location.
Large RP-74M Ammo Box
A large-capacity ammo box used with the RP-74M light machine gun. It’s primarily intended to be used from stationary firing positions, but there’s nothing stopping you from taking on a pseudogiant with it.
- Weight: 0.3 kg
- Value: 9,500
- Ammo: 250
The RPM-74M is the only Machine Gun in the game, besides a secret variant. Despite its 150-round magazine, sustained fire simply isn’t feasible. This attachment nearly doubles that, and should more than satiate the need for prolonged full-auto fire.
The Large RP-74M Ammo Box can fit on::
- RPM-74
The attachment can be found in a room under the dam in eastern Yantar. Climb atop the bus wreck and look down over the edge of its front. Clear the hazardous anomalies, and then jump down, aiming for the harmless bounce gravitational anomaly at the bottom to land safely. Once inside, the keypad code is 5578.
High-Capacity Gauss Magazine
The Product 62 project included the development of batteries with increased capacity, seeking to improve the battlefield autonomy of individual rifle operators.
- Weight: 0.4 kg
- Value: 19,000
- Ammo: 20
The Gauss Gun is the best Sniper Rifle in the game, maxing out every stat, and obliterating targets in the blink of an eye. The attachment doubles the default 10-round capacity, giving Stalkers double the time to reap death on the Zone’s inhabitants.
The High-Capacity Gauss Magazine can fit on:
- Gauss Gun
This attachment can be found inside the Friendship Kindergarten location in southwest Prypiat. The room is immediately to the left of the entrance, but cannot be accessed from the inside. Instead, go up to the first floor and climb out a window onto the concrete overhang. From here, jump down onto the metal grating sticking out of the room’s window below. The attachment is inside a duffel bag on a shelf.
