With the general reception for Hades 2’s early access being so positive, fans will want to know when they can expect the full game to come out.
Hades 2 is the much-awaited sequel to one of 2020’s surprising hits. Following the same roguelike formula as its prequel, Hades 2 polishes on much of what made the first Hades so memorable while introducing players to new and familiar faces. However, Melinoe’s story isn’t over yet.
Hades 2 came out in early access for Windows in May 2024. While players have access to a lot of content, especially thanks to the October Olympic update, much is missing. Those who either completed the existing game or want to play Hades 2 when everything is available will want to know when they can expect the game’s full release.
When will Hades 2 fully come out?
Hades 2 will likely fully come out sometime in 2025 based on the existing content and estimated release of upcoming content.
Players who played Hades 2 when the early access initially kicked off could already face the final boss of the Underworld section. While the surface section was largely incomplete, the Olympus update helped fix that by introducing a new region and boss.
However, both sections are still incomplete. The Underworld section concludes before Melinoe can learn more about her family while players can’t go further than Prometheus in the surface section.
Fortunately, while the wait for the Olympus update was long, players likely won’t have to wait as much for new content. Developer Supergiant Games revealed in a Steam Community update it’s aiming for an early 2025 release for the next major update. The upcoming update will likely give players access to the surface’s final boss, wrapping up the main structure of both routes.
With all areas and bosses out, Hades 2 could see its complete release in mid-2025. The game could also launch in late 2025 if the development sees unforeseen delays. Supergiant Games hasn’t given fans an exact timeframe for when they can expect Hades 2’s full release.
Will Hades 2 be on consoles?
Hades 2 will come out on consoles sometime after the game gets out of early access.
The first Hades saw its console release after its post-early access launch and players can expect the same for Hades 2. However, it’s unknown how long after the full release players will have to wait to play Hades 2 on consoles.
The prequel officially came out for Windows, macOS, and the Nintendo Switch on September 17, 2020. Console players got to play the game almost a year later on August 13, 2021, while iOS players saw a surprise release in 2024. Hades 2 has more support and many more eyes on it than the first game, but a 2026 console release is possible.
