The first Nintendo Switch 2 game has been revealed, and it’s not necessarily one fans expected.

Nintendo has announced that a new console is on its way, currently being dubbed the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s likely coming in the first half of 2025, with production starting this month. Still, Nintendo has been very tight-lipped about the Nintendo Switch successor and hasn’t said anything specific regarding its release date, features, specs, gimmicks or, of course, the games. The console seems to be getting a prolonged release date, leaving fans anxiously awaiting any and all news.

While many are predicting some of the big titles that are being held off until the Nintendo Switch 2 comes out, fans finally have the first official game to be announced for the new console.

What is the first Nintendo Switch 2 game?

The first confirmed game for the Nintendo Switch 2 is My Time at Evershine.

My Time at Evershine is a “cozy game” life sim RPG that’s part of the My Time series by Pathea Games. The series rose to fame with My Time at Portia, a game that was favorably compared to the iconic indie game Stardew Valley.

Its sequel, My Time at Evershine ran a Kickstarter campaign during its development. It now has a release date of September 24, 2024 and is set to be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox One Series X/S, and PC, but not the Nintendo Switch. The studio said that the plan is to wait for the Nintendo Switch 2. The studio has confirmed that the game is in development for “future Nintendo platforms yet to be announced” in a press release.

While leakers have discussed numerous major third-party games having Switch 2 ports in the works, this is the first

What’s new in the My Time at Portia sequel?

My Time at Evershine will carry a lot of elements over from My Time at Portia, including its focus on life sim gameplay features. But this sequel will have a lot of improvements on these features, including a new art style, better battle mechanics, and more realistic character models. This time, players aslso have the chance to be the Governor of the Evershine Settlement.

My Time at Evershine dropped a release trailer that shows off a bit of its gameplay. This includes a sneak peak of the 40-plus hour campaign, a quick look at combat, and some interactions with NPCs. There will be eight romanceable NPCs in the new game as well as city management gameplay.

On top of this, developers have been working on some interesting online elements that weren’t in previous games. This includes official online co-op support and even official mods.

Players are excited about what they’ve seen so far, especially the combat and character designs. This is a life sim that fans believe has inspired many other cozy games, so they’re pumped to see what new elements are in store.

Unfortunately, the trailer didn’t give any indications of what the Nintendo Switch 2 will be capable of, including hardware capabilities or fun gimmicks with its motion sensors. Fans will have to wait and see what the Nintendo Switch 2 has in store for fans of My Time as well as general Nintendo fans that are anxiously awaiting news about the console’s improvements.
