A video showing T1’s Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok’s reaction to losing to Gen.G during an 2024 LCK Summer match-up has shocked fans of the star player.
T1 has had a rollercoaster year in its 2024 esports journey. Although T1 finished in the top 3 at MSI and runner-up in the LCK Spring, the only title they’ve found this year was at the Esports World Cup. T1 infamously lost to Hanhwa Life Esports at the 2024 LCK Spring Playoffs, which came as a shock to many before the squad later recovered and made the final. The summer split has been particularly difficult, with the popular squad losing nearly as many games as they’ve won.
On top of some unexpected losses, T1 has been fighting off DDoS attacks for most of 2024. Faker explicitly called out the DDoS attacks as a reason for the team’s recent struggle, saying they couldn’t train as they normally would.
Now, a video of Faker’s intense reaction to a loss to rival Gen G has surfaced online and left fans worried.
What happened to Faker after T1 vs Gen.G?
Faker banged his head on what seemed to be a wall after a loss by T1 to Gen.G during the 2024 LCK Summer split. Gen.G dominated T1 in the best-of-three series. Many fans pointed out that Faker misplayed multiple times during the games, and at first, many were amused. After all, misplays aren’t unexpected, even at the game’s highest levels.
However, upon seeing T1 mid laner Faker’s post-game reaction in which he repeatedly bangs his head against a wall, those same fans immediately worried about his well-being. Although Faker has been emotional during after some high-stakes games, banging his head on a wall was new for fans. His teammates were equally shocked, and Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong had to stop Faker from hurting himself further.
Fans on social media poured out support for the pro player. Some called for T1 management to ask Faker to take a short break. Given the stress of 2024 for the team so far, fans would not begrudge the players their rest. T1 has not released any statements about the incident as of this writing.
Despite four World Championship trophies and a record-breaking career, Faker’s passion for the game remains as powerful as ever. Fans just hope that passion doesn’t come at the cost of Faker’s health.
