Disney is releasing a remaster of its 2010 Nintendo Wii classic with Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and the pre-order bonuses and a release date.
Disney has long been known for its ability to acquire popular franchises and develop its own into original IPs and license them for video games, toys, and everything in between. The iconic Mickey Mouse was turned into a video game in 2010 and THQ Nordic has promised a faithful remake that maintains the platformer style while also adding new mechanics. Fans of the original will appreciate the commitment to the aesthetic that has made Epic Mickey so popular.
Details on the game’s launch and incentives to buy in early have been confirmed. Here are the details about the preorder bonuses and release date for Epic Mickey: Rebrushed.
Epic Mickey: Rebrushed pre-order bonuses revealed
Fans who digitally pre-order the standard copy Epic Mickey: Rebrushed get in-game bonuses, while the collector’s edition comes with physical merchandise.
The Epic Mickey: Rebrushed standard edition preorder comes with the game and two major bonuses: access to the game 24 hours early, and three additional digital costumes. Players can choose to dress Mickey as Brave Little Tailor, Football, and Steam Boat Willie. These rewards are only available with the digital preorder, with the exception of GameStop saying that it will print reward codes on receipts.
Meanwhile, the collector’s edition does not offer any early access. Instead, the copy includes a number of both physical and digital rewards:
- Epic Mickey: Rebrushed game
- Collector’s steel book
- Oswald the Lucky Rabbit keychain
- Vintage Mickey Mouse tin
- Six postcards
- Mickey Mouse Statue
- A digital code for the three costumes
Which copy to get depends on budget and priorities on early access versus tangible rewards. Either way, fans don’t have much time left to decide.
Epic Mickey: Rebrushed release date confirmed
Epic Mickey: Rebrushed’s release date is September 24, 2024. The game comes out one day earlier with the standard digital preorder on most major platforms.
The standard edition costs $59.99 and is available through most major retailers. However, the collector’s edition game comes at a steep markup. Epic Mickey: Rebrushed Collector’s Edition costs $199.99. Supply has not been able to keep up with demand ahead of the game’s release, with the item going out of stock on major retailer sites and the THQ Nordic page.
Regardless of edition, fans can play Epic Mickey on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X/S and One, Windows, and Nintendo Switch. Mickey’s paintbrush cannot be constrained by a platform, only by the limits of the player’s imagination.
