A Twitter user has found a seemingly secret area in Genshin Impact hidden in Natlan, what purpose does this area serve?
Genshin Impact is an action-adventure game developed and published by miHoYo. The game has taken the world by storm and acted as their introduction to gacha games due to the production level of the game. That makes the idea of anything being “secret” in the game, which also sees characters and their material lists leaked constantly, kind of strange.
One of Genshin Impact’s greatest selling points is its vast open world and characters. The developers continue to deliver as players are now finding areas on the map that are supposedly hidden.
Genshin Impact might have a hidden secret area under Natlan
While the Twitter user has definitely found an area that is not normally accessible, this area is a domain for challenges called Night Kingdom Challenges.
As it turns out, the “hidden area” a Twitter user has found is a place where players will normally find themselves as they do quests around Natlan. However, the amazing part of this discovery is that it isn’t supposed to be accessible in the manner shown in the video.
As mentioned above, the only way the developers intended for this place to be accessible is through the obsidian totem poles that are scattered all across Natlan. In a way, this is still a secret since the usual way to access this would summon enemies with you in the area but this time it’s just the character and they are able to walk around the place while not being in any danger.
Another thing of note is that the mini-map at the top left part of the screen shifts as the player falls through the gap. The first few moments the player is falling, the map still shows the lava area, then it shows a green area which means that the player was transported as they were already falling.
After that, the mini-map changes to transparent, with no land or any element in sight. Curiously, the player’s quest tracker also says “Please head to Teyvat”. Teyvat is the region of land where Genshin Impact takes place. It encompasses the whole world map from Inazuma to Mondstadt. This suggests that the game realized that the player was sent to a region that is not Teyvat.
