Easter eggs, ARG hints, and Bloober Team have potentially left a few hints at the next Silent Hill remake and it’s a potentially surprising choice; Silent Hill 4: The Room.
Despite initially negative fandom reactions, the Silent Hill 2 remake has proven worthy of praise. The Silent Hill 2 remake sold over one million copies within its first week, making it one of the fastest-selling games in the franchise. Not only that but, according to review averages, it stands as the most single best game in the series with the only possible exception being the original Silent Hill 2.
In an interview with IGN, Bloober Team director Wojciech Piejko confirmed that Bloober Team was open to more remakes. With Konami high on Silent Hill 2’s success, that left fans rushing for requests on the next entry. Various hints from the new game and its associated ARG left hints about the most likely title to get a makeover.
Clues hint towards a potential Silent Hill 4 Remake
Fans have discovered multiple easter eggs from the Silent Hill 2 Remake and its ARG that point towards Silent Hill 4.
In Woodside Apartments, Room 102 bears distinct similarities in layout and design to the iconic Room 302 of Silent Hill 4. That’s in addition to the newspaper clipping of Silent Hill 4 antagonist Walter Sullivan’s murders, though that existed even in the original. In addition, the revised Rebirth ending has James explicitly mention the ritual to bring back Mary, citing a deeper connection to the serial killer’s motivations in 4.

Weeks before the official release, Konami published an official website for the Silent Hill Historical Society. Though seemingly normal, fans quickly uncovered the Augmented Reality Game (ARG) hidden within its web pages. Many clues inevitably lead to Walter Sullivan, the serial killer who murdered two children in Silent Hill. A Redditor even found an image that potentially ties to Silent Hill 4’s connection to Silent Hill 2.

There are multiple interpretations of this strange symbol. Some believe it is simply 2 and 4, while others think it’s 21, referring to the 21 Sacraments ritual from Silent Hill 4. It could even mean both. With the ARG still ongoing, and the meaning of the mysterious Strange Photo collectibles unsolved, fans may find out more in the coming months.
Remakes of other Silent Hill games may prove more difficult
Silent Hill 4 being a standalone title makes it an easy candidate, but fans still want Silent Hill 1 and Silent Hill 3.
Silent Hill 2 works as a remake because it’s a closed narrative. James’ story begins and ends within the game. In contrast, Silent Hill 3 would require context from Silent Hill 1 to fully appreciate, given Heather Mason’s direct connection to her father Harry, the first game’s protagonist.
A Silent Hill 1 Remake would likely have to exist before Silent Hill 3. Regardless, the success of the Silent Hill 2 Remake means future Silent Hill games will likely have Konami’s total support. ad
