A PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been confirmed, but not in a way that Insomniac Games or PlayStation will like.
Insomniac continues to leak more information well into 2024. Although the bulk of the leaks have been focused on the upcoming PS5 game Marvel’s Wolverine, plenty more has come to light. Among the leaks have been DLC plans, a Venom spin-off sequel, and even Spider-Man 3 plans. Not to mention the many business-end secrets that were leaked regarding financials and playtime.
The latest major reveal is that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will receive a PC port, with a build of the game reportedly being discovered. Both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales have had relatively successful PC ports, so it makes sense for Insomniac to capitalize on the sequel hype.
When will Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC port be released?
There is no official release date for Spider-Man 2’s PC port.
The PC port of Spider-Man: Remastered came four years after its initial PS4 release. Spider-Man: Miles Morales got its PC port comparatively quicker, only two years post-launch. It’s reasonable to speculate that two years is a good number for Insomniac to develop a PC port for Spider-Man 2.
The Spider-Man 2 PC port may come out in 2025 but could come out sooner. Sony has been making more of an effort to release PC ports of its biggest franchises. God of War and Horizon: Zero Dawn received PC ports and that trend isn’t slowing down. Parts of the Insomniac Games leak suggest that the company will be pivoting to more live-service-style games over time and will have titles that release simultaneously on PC and PlayStation consoles simultaneously.
This could mean that Spider-Man 2 gets a PC launch sooner than its predecessors. Insomniac Games has not confirmed a PC release for Spider-Man 2, but the fact that a playable build effectively confirms that it will come out at some point.
Is Wolverine getting a PC port?
There is no official confirmation that Insomniac’s Wolverine is getting a PC port, but it is likely.
Wolverine is taking up most of Insomniac’s dev time and with good reason. Leaks are suggesting it to be one of the most technologically ambitious projects for Insomniac to date. The game is seemingly being developed with the PS5 Pro in mind, with technologies such as AI upscaling included in its development plans.
These technologies are notably absent from the base PS5’s features. While this is exciting for Wolverine fans, it also means a PC port for the game will be a long wait. Marvel’s Wolverine’s projected release date is in 2025 or 2026, and a PC version will likely come out sometime after that.
