Amouranth is one of the biggest names in streaming and keeps her name at the forefront of streaming news.
Originally a cosplayer who competed at conventions, Amouranth began streaming in 2016. Her earliest work focused on the complex process of making costumes but this changed over time. Amouranth’s popularity grew from 2019 onward as she pushed the boundaries of Twitch’s content standards with over-the-top ASMR and hot tub streams, something that made her a key player for rival streaming platform Kick.
Amouranth became the face of this controversial new wave of content creators as others emulated her style. Here are the key details on her rise to fame, her social media presence, and some of her most attention-getting moments.
Who is Amouranth?
Amouranth is a popular Twitch streamer with a presence across almost all major social media platforms. She rose to fame through streaming but exploded in popularity after creating risque and adult content on platforms such as Instagram and OnlyFans.
Originally, she focused on gaming and cosplay. She often combined the two, playing games while wearing a costume based on one of its characters.
While this worked in gathering an audience, she boomed in popularity thanks to boundary-pushing NSFW content on livestreaming platform Twitch. Her ushering in the “hot tub meta” brought in a much larger audience, and her bans only seemed to increase her visibility further.
What is Amouranth famous for?
Amouranth is famous for her provocative Twitch streams that have popularized new categories of content on the platform. The most notable example of this is pioneering the “hot tub meta” where streamers would do broadcasts from a hot tub or pool.
Amouranth’s bans from the platform have also become a topic of great amusement among fans and detractors alike. She has found a number of different ways to push the envelope on Twitch over the years, something that has gamified their content standards.
Does Amouranth still cosplay?
Amouranth does not create content based on cosplay but does incorporate costumes into her work on occasion. During streams and in social media posts, Amouranth will wear outfits inspired by characters from video games or anime.
That said, her content isn’t focused on cosplaying. Plenty of cosplayers put out videos focused on creating costumes, slicing up EVA foam, and using a hot glue gun. Amouranth doesn’t do so these days, but will occasionally return to her roots.
Did Amouranth quit OnlyFans?
Amouranth has not quit OnlyFans but states she plans to do so in the future. In April 2022, she announced that she intended to leave OnlyFans the following June. That never happened, though.
In July, Amouranth responded to criticism on Twitter regarding her continued presence on the platform. She stated that her plans to leave OnlyFans had been pushed back “six months or a year” due to her intent to create an anime convention. To this point, she remains on the platform and it is unclear if she still plans to leave.
Though she is highly successful across multiple social media platforms, she has stated in the past that the majority of her income is from OnlyFans. There’s no question that leaving would be a serious hit to her bottom line, but there may be other opportunities lined up for her as well.
Has Amouranth been banned from Twitch?
Amouranth has been banned from Twitch on a number of occasions but has not been permanently banned to this point. Her bans generally tend to be due to risque content. While her numerous suspensions would have led to a permanent ban at one point, that’s not the case anymore and she continues to stream on Twitch regularly.
Amouranth’s bans have stemmed from a variety of different infractions. The list includes unintentionally flashing the camera, licking her microphone during ASMR streams, and showing inappropriate images on-stream. Her bans usually last for two to seven days.
Is Amouranth leaving Twitch?
Amouranth is not leaving Twitch, but has signed a partnership with Kick that will see her stream on both platforms.
On June 17, 2023, Amouranth announced that she had entered into a partnership with Kick. Kick is a livestreaming platform founded in December 2022 that is actively looking to compete with Twitch. In order to attract new and larger audiences, the platform began signing prominent Twitch streamers including Amouranth and Felix “xQc” Lengyel.
The move reminded fans of defunct streaming platform Mixer, who entered into partnerships with Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Michael “shroud” Grzesiek. But while Mixer signed exclusive deals with Ninja and shroud, Kick signed talent to non-exclusive deals. This resulted in xQc and Amouranth maintaining a presence on both Twitch and Kick.
Is Amouranth still with her husband?
Amouranth stated that she had separated from her husband in late 2022. There have been no reports of a proper divorce from husband Nick Lee since then, but she has discussed having greater control over what kind of content she creates.
In October 2022, Amouranth had an emotional stream that revealed she had been married for some time. During the broadcast, she had a 15-minute-long argument with her husband who audibly threatened to “irrevocably destroy” her career while Amouranth cried on-camera. She then showed a series of text messages to viewers that were allegedly written by Lee, threatening to drain her finances by purchasing cryptocurrency and making sizable donations to charitable organizations.
Following the stream, she stated she is seeking legal counsel. She said her husband was “getting help” and had ceded control of her finances.
