Twitch has banned John “Tectone” Robertson for the third and his fans are questioning why, including whether the platform banned the streamer because he has started streaming on rival platform Kick.
Tectone recently came into the limelight when he reported that his Twitch ad revenue was down significantly. The streamer claimed that this would lead to streamers migrating to other platforms. He also stated his intentions to start multistreaming content and officially joined Kick on June 2. During his first Kick stream, Tectone reported making several times more money than he was on Twitch.
This revenue increase may have been good news for the streamer, but he was in for some bad news as well. On June 5, Twitch banned Tectone and fans immediately began to speculate it has something to do with the streamer joining Kick.
Tectone claims his Twitch ban is hypocritical
Shortly after getting banned, Tectone tweeted that he had found out why his Twitch channel had received a ban, and claimed that the reason was “more hypocritical” than he thought.
Tectone went viral in May when he claimed in a stream that Twitch wanted to permanently ban him. He claimed his source had told him he would be “banned within the month.” Twitch banned the streamer approximately a month after the stream. Tectone tweeted and said he had warned viewers this would happen. The streamer went on to say “Things are far worse” than he had previously thought.
Tectone came live on Kick to reveal to fans why Twitch had banned his channel. The streamer explained that he had name-called two women who have OnlyFans accounts and the platform banned him for the offense. The content creator claimed this was hypocritical because he was himself being insulted, but no action was being taken against those who spoke against him. He alleged he had only said “the truth” but was being punished for it. Tectone also clarified that he wasn’t permanently banned as many viewers had assumed and that the ban duration would be seven days.
In a tweet, Tectone claimed that he livestreamed the apparently offensive content on Kick, Twitch, and YouTube. But only one platform, Twitch, took action against him. The streamer may have been implying that his ban is related to his multistreaming content elsewhere beyond Twitch.
There is no hard evidence to support his claim, but Tectone has been promoting Kick extensively. This is why viewers have also been speculating that Twitch may have taken offense and found a reason to ban him.
