Accessing the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is proving to be a major challenge for Xbox and PlayStation players, even if it should be available.
Rocky launches for games aren’t unusual. Even with the original launch of Elden Ring, the game’s PC version was unplayable for many due to visual bugs and performance issues. Shadow of the Erdtree is proving to be no different.
The good news is that it’s an extremely easy fix. Players just need to take a couple of simple steps in order to finalize the DLC being installed and enter into the Land of Shadows.
How to fix Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC being inaccessible on PS4, PS5, and Xbox consoles
Players need to install the DLC through the in-game menu and possibly restart their console in order to access Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
The whirlwind of updates, patches, and pre-loads made starting the Elden Ring DLC a major hassle for players. Thankfully, players can remedy this with a couple of steps on both Xbox and PlayStation consoles:
- On the game’s main menu, select the “PlayStation Store” or “Xbox Store option”
- Confirm that the DLC is downloaded
- Restart the console
The updates to Elden Ring prior to the DLC’s launch alongside consoles’ spotty ability to handle pre-loaded games left many believing that the DLC was available when it actually wasn’t. If players pre-loaded the DLC and had the console on when Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree went live, they couldn’t launch it. This was particularly frustrating as the prior updates added new loading screen artwork based on the DLC that players couldn’t access.
Players can confirm that the DLC is installed through Elden Ring main menu. If the DLC is already purchased and installed, the option to go to the store simply won’t appear. If it is, then players need to restart their console.
After restarting, opening the game, and loading a save that has access to the DLC, the player will be greeted with the notification that they have learned the Ring of Miquella gesture. After this, players can head to the Coccoon of the Empyrean site of Grace to find a new NPC to greet them.
If none of this works, it’s possible players simply haven’t fulfilled the requirements to access the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. To start it, players need to have beaten Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood.
